He switched his commitment from LSU to UCLA--

http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Cassius-Marsh-73618

If he's all-White (I'm curious as to how he jumped up to the #4 DT and #33 overall in Rivals rankings; I suspect that Rivals often sees pictures of these guys parents, and, if they have the "magic" blood, they get bumped up..), I think he will get a fairer chance at UCLA compared to LSU.

As for race, I don't think I'm paranoid at all... Just look at how Rivals over-represents black QBs in their rankings, and it's NOT based on passing yards at all.. That's something that Whites almost always dominate.

White QBs can dominate the NFL, but NOT high school?

EDIT: He flares his nose in the original picture on the Rivals link. I can do that, too.. I'm not worried about that!

Wow, Rivals ranking a white as the 4th DT and 33rd overall. I too am suspicious that he is not 1/8th (or possibly even 1/4 black). Rivals is an AA political machine that perpetrates the black supremacy myth and would of course be huge proponents of black-white marriage and mulatto players as well.

I don't know too many whites named Cassius. I only think of Cassius Clay before he became Muhammad Ali.

That high school has produced some excellent White players, so I'm leaning towards him being White.

I'm just in a daze because he was ranked 20-something at DT, and now he's #4. I know he appeared in one of the high school all-star games, so maybe that helped his ranking.

I do recall Ohio State DT - Garrett Goebel - being ranked very high a few years ago.

Even though DT is a huge caste position in the NFL, maybe Rivals finds it "acceptable" to rank a white DT here or there fairly since it isn't a "speed" position. You'd never see a white RB or WR ranked 4th though, even though NFLdraftscout, Draftdaddy etc. both had Gerhart in the top 4 2010 RBs.

NFLdraftscout has now been starting their NFL rankings before the true freshman even start college and they are looking a lot like whiterivals. We shouldn't underestimate the influence of Rivals AA BS.

well Cassius is a traditionally a very white name, Roman times name. And kid looks white as far as both facial features and hair color, so that's good enough for me.

I'm guessing that Cassius Clay was named after Cassius Clay who was a nephew of Henry Clay, famous in the 1820-1840 era as a Kentucky senator. Anyway, the original Cassius Clay was a leader in the fight for emancipation in Kentucky. When it was put to a vote in the Kentucky constitutional convention in the 1840's it got about one third support from the delegates, IIRC. Also, many Kentucky abolitionists were in favor of sending freed blacks to Liberia, and I'd guess that the first Cassius Clay was too.

He's MIXED!

Notice the distinct "Blake Griffin look" in this pic..

So I did research, and it was a little bit confusing, but I finally found the proof:

His father is Curtis Marsh, former Utah Ute and NFLer. Cassius mentions that his brother (likely half-brother) starred at Royal high. This appears to be him:

I saw his myspace page, and he seems to have a black mom.

What confused me, initially, was this bio that said that Cassius father played at UT and his brother played at UT State. UT could be Texas or Tennessee or what not.

Lemming seems to be embellishing about his run-stopping ability because, from what I can tell, his tackle numbers were limited, but he does provide a pass-rush.

**Pretty much the only thing that surprises me about this, is the fact that he doesn't have a negro voice, which tends to be very common amongst light-skinned mixtures. For the most part, I didn't start this thread because his name is Cassius, but simply because something seemed odd; oh well.**

"The son looks White and will be regarded as White by the DWFs, but it appears the only reason he soared up the rankings like he did was because of his black mother (or grandparent). It's very sickening to think that a kid with a lot of talent who looks and acts White was highly recruited only because he has a non-white parent or grandparent."

Good detective work, Deadlift. I remember his father well, was a great college receiver who was totally screwed over by the NFL. He was tall with great hands and always shone in pre-season games but would always get cut or, if he was "lucky," stick around as the 6th receiver. He only had 9 career catches in the NFL.

Curtis was born in 1970 but wasn't drafted until '95, so it's likely he's a Mormon. Attending Utah would also tend to confirm that.

The son looks White and will be regarded as White by the DWFs, but it appears the only reason he soared up the rankings like he did was because of his black mother (or grandparent). Very sickening. This gives credence to mine and other's theory that if Nile Knapp somehow tattooed his whole body dark brown, took tanning pills or was found to somehow be a black Albino, that he would- just by "virtue" of his race- be listed in the Rivals 100 (or at least the 250 without a doubt). Same goes for Sam McGuffie, Rex Burkhead, Brandon Wegher, Drew Phillips, Brandon Bourbon, Zach Langer and "possibly" even Cam McDaniel. All these guys would be in the Rivals 250 simply if they were "mistaken" as black. This is absolutely disgusting, but absolutely true. I think there was a comedy movie about two kids who dyed their skin or took tanning pills in order to get admitted to a college that was a reach for them- by being mistaken as black.

BTW, I think the exact reverse of this happened to Tyler Gaffney. Rivals had a picture of him with the sun shinning on him in his uniform with his helmet on with a face mask (no visor) and he looked very much like a black kid and he was listed in the "Rivals 100" in the very first rankings as a RB. Then mysteriously he dropped down to the Rivals 250 as a FB at the same time as new pictures appeared in his profile. And then finally in the third or fourth rankings- he dropped out of the 250 completely as a FB. I'm sure I'm not the only one who remembers his strange fall. This pathetic site ranked fellow Cardinal Toby Gerhart a "FB" and not even in the Rivals 250 (despite running a hand timed 4.48 and being the huge state of California's all time H.S rushing leader)...Wake up DWFs!

Don,

I distinctly remember Curtis Marsh being brought up in one or more of the NFL forums, maybe Pittsburgh, but I wasn't totally sure what was said. When I was doing my search, I was looking for a picture of Curtis Marsh, Utah Utes, and I found this:

http://www.fanbase.com/Curtis-Marsh/photo/159309?n=0

(Picture at link)

I presumed he was a mulatto (maybe because Curtis Marsh Jr may also be his son). I did want to see a face picture, though, but no luck.

I did see his nfl.com link, which has the 9 career catches listed--

http://www.nfl.com/players/curtismarsh/profile?id=MAR337202

and his football-reference link which says he was drafted in the 7th round by Jacksonville:

http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/MarsCu00.htm

So, Curtis Marsh is a White man? This is like The Twighlite Zone... There doesn't seem to be much info about Curtis Marsh on the net. Wow.

I always thought Marsh was White. Can't remember seeing his face close-up without a helmet on, but from the way he looked on a TV screen while playing, plus the way he was never given a chance by the NFL despite his talent standing out, I'm pretty sure he's White.

Yeah, it's often hard to find info on the internet about persons and events that occurred pre-internet unless they are very well known.
