My wife and I are very upset about all of this. She grew up in Moscow and still has family there. We fear this is the beginning of a rift between Russia and the US again.
Why won't Bush mention the reason he wants those missile bases? The russian media says it is to prevent nuclear attacks from Iran. They won't mention it on the American news because it makes Bush look like he is failing the war on terrorism.
Bush has room to talk in attacking Putin on his "backslide" from Democracy, with his "patriot" act and torturing people in camps. What business is it of ours what the Russians want to do with thier government anyway?
Does Bush really think we can fight with the Russians at this point - with thier economy so strong and our nation in the worst debt it has ever seen?
The roles are reversed from Afghanistan, it seems. What a bitter irony it is.
