Cam Newton will be going to the Pro-bowl. Reminds me of another quarterback who was hand-picked for the pro-bowl in his rookie year - Vince Young. The year Vince Young went to the pro-bowl he accomplished a 66 QB rating with 12 TD and 13 INT's. (Nope, no agenda here.)

Newton is going as a replacement pick for Eli. Andy Dalton is going as the replacement for Tom Brady, nice to see Andy also make it as a rookie.

Why is Newton getting in ahead of Stafford who had over 5,000 yards and 41 TDs with a 97 QB rating on a playoff team?

Ha! I came here to start this very thread.

Now, I will admit that I was one of the people who thought Cam would be a Jamarcus Russell repeat, and I was wrong, at least when it came to this first season, where he put up some very good numbers... for a rookie. But when compared to the average NFL QB, he was... average. Not great. Not Pro-Bowl quality. Just average.

And here he is in the pro bowl, a game where there is no blitz, a joke pass rush, the DBs don't really cover but only try for interceptions, constant coverage breakdowns, tons of yards after catch because the DBs just try to push guys out of bounds instead of tackling....

....and he goes 9-for-27 with THREE INTERCEPTIONS and only 186 yards. Yes he threw two TDs, but big deal, everyone got to throw two TDs today. Dalton managed his two TDs in only 9 throws.

Best of all, he managed to GET SACKED in the pro bowl. Yes, in a game where intentional grounding is legal, a game where the pass rushers don't try to hit you, he got sacked.

Oh and he ran four times for 14 yards, utterly useless.

But props to London Fletcher for leading the NFC with 5 tackles. Yeah, he's black, but he has a "white" work ethic and always plays hard.

Newton is a legit NFL QB....Amazing talent. He is better than Andrew Luck. Robert Griffith III will be a better QB than Luck

I do find it a tad amusing that after sCam exposes himself in the Pro Bowl the DWF's and NFL alike started trashing the Pro Bowl and no longer want the game played. I'm thinking the two correlate with one another.

[h=1]Stafford great, but Cam Newton is already better[/h]
Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford showed up Wednesday night on the "Top 100: Players of 2012" list at No. 41. He earned it with a 5,000-yard season. Stafford's fellow players recognized that he made an enormous leap last season, especially with his strong play down the stretch.

We couldn't help but notice that Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was not mentioned in the show. We still haven't found out where Newton will land on the list, but we know he's ahead of Stafford. We've criticized the voters more than once this year, but they got this call right.
This isn't about Newton's potential. He's already a superior quarterback. Newton showed the ability to stand tall in the pocket, like a veteran, and deliver with pressure in his face. He's a good progression reader. Stafford has also made great strides in these areas, but Newton's running skills put him over the top. Newton may be the best goal-line back in football.
This past season was such a massive success for Stafford. In his third season, the former No. 1 overall pick had to prove he could stay healthy. He did it. He had to prove that all his potential could translate into production. He did that, too.
Stafford was sensational last year, which makes it even more remarkable that the first overall pick of 2011 is already better than him.

Scam is a better scrambler, but Stafford is far superior as a passer (in the pocket)...and has a stronger arm.

The support for sCam is eroding  but is being offset by the ridiculous & mindless support for Griffin. :eek:hwell: A new hope is overshadowing the one previously anointed as the "future of the quarterback position." I didn't think anything could exceed the Newton hype, but mister world class track afflete with unprecedented upside is the new king of DWFdom!

The support for Cam is definitely eroding. But Black members of the media like Bomani Jones are complaining about it. Jones gave a fair comparison of Cam to Stafford on how they have both regressed, but you don't see Stafford outing his teammates and coaches in press conferences.
Sportscenter just had Warren Moon on to comment about Newton, he gave the usual spiel about how he doesn't like how black quarterbacks are compared to each other. Chris McKendry asked who he would compare Cam to and he said "I don't know, he is a tough guy to compare". He finally said Ben Roethlisberger. I actually heard McKendry smirk on air as they exchanged good byes.
