Any of you guys heard of Vladimir Virchis? I've read he is supposed to
be the next opponent for Chris Byrd. Any chance of an upset?

Byrd is going to fight Serguei Lyakhovich in July.Serguei in my opinion should have a few more fights before meeting Byrd.Byrd should fight Wlad but Byrd is really afraid of Wlad because of the bad whipping Wlad put on his little brown butt the last time they fought.

Gary, I just Googled Lyakhovich, and from what I read I
couldn't agree with you more. Serguei was knocked out by a
guy who was 18-12 ! Although I don't kee up with all the up and
coming or lower echelon fighters, I do consider myself a fan of
boxing but even I didn't recoognize any of the names on Serguei's
resume, except for Guinn.

Hope he can do it though.

Well as a matter of fact, Lyakhovich has improved immensely since his KO loss. I remember his victory over Guinn was very impressive considering his resume. Guinn was toted to be the next best thing, but Lyakhovich came out of no where to pull off the victory.

However, I too wish he would have taken a few more fights before taking on Byrd.

My money is on Lyakhovich he has the size and has drawn comparison the the klitchkos, also i think byrd lost to both golatta and mccline despite not being given a loss. Byrd tend to struggle aganst guys that have the reach on him because he can't use his jab. However if he keeps it close i am sure the judges will give byrd the decision.

I hope Lyakhovich wins,I agree he may need to KO Byrd to win.I'd like to see Golota win. Also I know it's a longshot but I really would like to see McBride beat Tyson.

Kevin I agree. White fighters have to knock out black fighters. Anything remotely close seems to always go for the darker fighter. Just saw a cruiserweight IBF champion fight tonight on ESPN that was a good example of just that.

Wasn't the decision for the Brown-Bell IBF cruiserweight championship fight ridiculous.Brown so throurghly out-boxed Bell it wasn't funny and in an area like power punches,Brown out-worked Bell there too_Oh well,it's boxing and these type of decisions happen all the time, but when they do you can't help thinking, when is it going to stop. It's one thing to get a decision like that if the fight was close, but this one was not.Brown had his jab working most of the night, the only chance Bell had was when Brown wasn't useing the jab and even then Brown was getting the best of Bell for the most part.Brown wasn't allowing Bell to score consistantly as he was side-stepping him all-night like a Matador.Ole Bell,Ole.Bell's attitude before, during and after the fight is so typical that you wonder why so many people are put-off by the black athlete. The guy is getting it handed to him during the fight and he's acting like, bring it on,yeah right. He was on on-steady legs for the most of the fight and if Brown was more of a puncher it would have been over as there were times Brown's jab would snap his head back. What was also pathetic was in-studio guy,Bill Kenny whimping-out to Shane Mosely and saying he's not surprised buy the decision as it could have gone either way, while Shane just said he had Brown winning 116-112.Whenever you have a white guy with a black guy in the studio together, the white mostly caters to the black guy. It was refreshing to hear some absolute disgust by the play-by-play guy, whose name escapes me.Thanks brother,it was a terrible decision and you let everyone know that it was a terrible decision.

That was the one. One writer referred to it as the worst decision since Dela Hoya won a contrversial decision against Felix Strum. Any guess on Strum's pigmentation? Funny how Oscar lost close controversial decisions to black fighters and won one controversially that really wasn't that close.
