Brock Lesnar - Randy Couture

Wow! Don't know who to root for there and not sure of the outcome either. That's a hell of a matchup.

Brock...too young, too strong.

Flame away Couture fans.

I am not saying you are wrong Poacher but that is the exact same argument that MMA experts and fans used in the Tito/Couture fight a few years ago. He's "too young and too strong". I will never again underestimate Couture's chances against anybody, he's made a fool out of alot of people. I hope you didn't think that was flaming.

Brock will probably be the slight favorite in that fight. But Couture will be the fan favorite and I can hear the chants now, Randy, Randy, Randy....I can't wait for this one.

Dammit, you beat me to it. I'm stoked for this fight, to be honest I don't think couture has a chance, but I'm pulling for him regardless. The old blood vs the new, if Couture pulls off a victory over the inhumanly strong Lesnar he will have more than solidified his place as a hall of famer, and if he gets to fight fedor afterwards, damn.

It's amazing that a fighter who is 2-1 is even in the discussion, let alone being picked as a favorite over Randy Couture. And not without reason, I might add.

This makes sense in dollars and cents for the UFC... but what happens to the title? Is Randy still the champ? Are Nog and Mir still going to fight for the interim title or the real title?

And is the UFC going to have a heavyweight champion who is 3-1 in his mixed martial arts career?

It does not make sense that Couture was not stripped. But UFC sometimes likes money more than it likes making sense.

I thought Couture left the UFC? I thought he was going to embarass himself against Fedor? I guess he saw what happened to big Timmy and he changed his mind.

Well, he may have seen that fight, but I think it was more that he lost his court case against the UFC. He has to fulfill his contract. The UFC is reportedly offering him a new, 3-fight contract though.

This seems like a boxing type decision. I recall the WBC doing this with Roy Jones and robbing "Rocky" Rocchigiani of his Lt. Heavyweight belt.

Yes, the power of the law has a very stong appeal!

According to Dana White, this Lesnar vs. Couture bout will be for the HW belt. Nogueira's interim belt now means jack $#@* and he and Mir will be fighting post-TUF for the number 1 contender spot.

I think it's pretty weak that Brock is getting a title shot after beating Heath Herring. But I guess Nog vs. Randy isn't enough of a draw for casual fans.

I agree jared, the title fight should be between Nog and Couture. It just bothers me for some reason that Lesnar is already getting a shot a the title, despite the fact he is a phenom and this fight will draw huge PPV numbers. I understand WHY the UFC has set up this fight... I just don't like it.

But of course I'll watch. Who's your pick?

Wow! I just heard this news. That's a hard one to call. Brock has the power, size & free-style wrestling, but Randy has the experience & Greco/dirty boxing advantage. Randy's very game & crafty, but Brock's a physical specimen. I was hoping Randy would return, but Brock would destroy Goldberg & Rogaine's wet-dream Kongo first.

We still haven't seen Brock take one on the chin yet. I think Randy's gonna sneak in some uppercuts that give him pause. I could see Randy winning via TKO. But who knows...?

I agree, I think Randy has a chance to win by TKO. Herring managed to land a couple of shots in a row later in the fight, and I felt this 'Ah, sh*t, here we go!' moment, but it was short lived. Brock bulldozed Herring into the ground almost immediately after eating those shots. I expect if Randy doesn't hit Brock with a shot that puts him on queer street as soon as it lands, Brock will bulldoze him into the ground, too. It isn't like you can sprawl against Brock, he's like Sherk but 100 lbs. heavier.

Brock's an animal with freakish strength & explosiveness. Randy will need a top notch game plan to get past Brock's physical prowess. I imagine Randy will be training stand-up & submissions a ton to prepare for the juggernaut Lesnar.

Randy is in danger of getting totally dominated by a bigger and better wrestler. However, I did notice that Brock was vulnerable to recieving strikes in the clinch - that's wbat Randy is good at. If Randy can somehow stay on his feet in the clich he has a chance. Brock to me seems like one of those beasts who has the ability to mentally panick - ala Golota. I hate to say it about a blonde haired scandinavian, but he doesn't seem to have much upstairs.
