If anyone knows how to make banner ads please pm me.

For comments on this thread I'm interested in feedback on your perception of the state of discussion boards by those who post or lurk at a number of them, whether on sports, politics or anything else. Do they seem to be growing in popularity, declining or staying about the same? Are things like social networking replacing them to some degree?

I check out a few other sites here and there, post a little on them, and they seem to be getting less activity now than maybe a couple years ago. Just my impression. I don't know much about the social sites or twitter and all that, but maybe they're taking net time away from more serious discussion forums that require more literacy and attention span to participate in an increasingly shallower on the run culture?
