The first paragraph:
"Sheila Dixon has reduced violent crime and gracefully handled a variety of crises since taking over as mayor in January 2007, but a two-year state investigation of her financial dealings as City Council president threatens to overshadow her successes."
The thing that caught my eye about this news story was not the fact that another black mayor is in trouble. Not even that this one is a woman. It was more that the writer of the article above decided to write the first paragraph in defense of the woman-that she has single-handedly defeated crime in Baltimore in 1 1/2 years-instead of simply focusing on what she is being investigated for.
I`m sure she has nothing to hide.
