I got a new name for you at 400m - Alex Harcourt at the Univ. of Washington.
He won the 400m today in 46.43 over some big boys - Darold Williamson, JT Scheurmann, Reggie Witherspoon, and all the other stars at Baylor.
I believe his time is the world leader, but not sure what anybody else has done this weekend.
Anyway, he is another 400m runner to watch out for.
There a lot more guys to cheer on these days than there were just 10 years ago. I really believe it is the trickle down effect of the success of Wariner and Rock.

Alex finished 2nd at the Pac 10 championships.
His best time this year is 45.87, which makes him the 9th fastest collegian in the country.
He is under the radar, but doing very, very well.

Alex qualified for the 400m finals of West Regional.
Domenik Peterson running with a hamstring injury did not make it, and Drew Morano from Colorado St. did not run because of injury.
A real shame for Domenik in his last season, missing the conference championships and not really having a chance at the regionals.
In the Midwest regional 400m, Aaron Buzard and JT Scheuermann both qualified for the finals.
Lukas Hulett missed the finals by 4/100s of a second.

Not a great day at the NCAA Regionals for our guys:

Harcourt 3rd in the West in 46.39
Myer 7th in 100 in 10.44 - MidWest.
Buzard 7th in the 400 in 46.70 - Midwest
Probasco 3rd in the 200 in 20.86 - Midwest
Connaughton 5th in the 200 in 20.94 -Midwest

I have noticed for the past several seasons, that all the guys seem to do worse in their senior season than in their junior season.
Adam Steele and Mitch Potter took 1st and 3rd at the NCAA championships as juniors, but were not at that level as seniors.
Aaron Buzard made the NCAA finals last year, and this year hasn't qualified.
Probasco and Connaughton were better last year as juniors than they are this season.
Same was true for Dusty Stamer, Domenik Peterson, Trey Griffin..pretty much everybody, escept Wariner.
Any thoughts on why this is?

Maybe they are suffering from physical and mental burnout. I know Wariner is also two levels better than the others, except for Steele and Potter who are maybe one level below Wariner.

Harcourt made it through to the next round of the 400m at the NCAAs.
Aaron Buzard made it to, but he is not running nearly as well as last year.
