He was probably the greatest thrower ever. Usually throwers are obscure athletes that garner few accolades. He transcended track so you know he was a true legend. RIP AL.

I used to throw discus in college. He was the man back then anda tremedous champion.

Wow, Al Oerter was a great athlete. My dad hipped me to him, Bob Mathias (who also died this year) and Bobby Morrow
