The Chad Dawson vs. Adrian Diaconu fight on Sep 29 will be for the WBC Light Heavyweight title and televised by Showtime.

Chad Dawson (24-0) is regarded by many as the next great black boxer. Adrian Diaconu (24-0), according to some in the sports media (i.e., Dan Rafael) does not have a CHANCE of beating him.

Diaconu will have a height and reach disadvantage, but he has lots of heart and is relentlessly aggressive. I have faith, regardless of what the experts are saying, that the Romanian-Canadian fighter will prevail!

Dawson is a great jabber. Diaconu will have to step in and take control of the fight or Dawson will jab to a decision. Adamsk realized this later on and was able to knock down Dawson late in the fight, but it was too late. Dawson built a big lead. But Diaconu has a very good chance if he works on the inside and checks Dawson's chin. Diaconu has a excellent chance, he just needs to get in on Dawson early and often.

IIRC, Adamek moved up to cruiserweight and captured the IBO title. Any word if he will take on one of the two black title holders?Edited by: Amren.com

Either Adamek or fellow Pole Wlodarczyk will fight Steve Cunningham (black) for the IBF cruiser belt. Wlodarczyk and Cunnungham split a pair of close fights.

Dawson really is the next Great Black Hope. There are still some decent black fighters like Hopkins, Wright and Mayweather. But these guys are near retirement. Dawson is young and has some talent.

Diaconu is 5'9 and Dawson is 6'3. That is why caste dorks like Raphael give Adrian no shot. But Dawson has been knocked down twice in recent fights. He only beat Adamek because the Pole was killing himself to make weight (Adamek moved up to cruiser after the fight). Also, Diaconu's last opponent (Rico Hoye) was 6'3 and fights like Dawson. Adrian KO'd him in 3 rounds.

The only wory I have is if it goes to a decision. Dawson is a Don King fighter so Adrian will probably have to KO him for the belt.

Marco Huck is his mandatory, and there's been talk of Maccarinelli/ Cunningham. I would love to see either of those fights. Adamek/ Cunningham would be great, too. Not Wlodarczyk though. I saw some of their first fight and it was awful. I wasn't impressed with either one of them. Let someone else get a crack at Cunningham. He's definitely beatable.

This fight interest me. I would like to see Diaconu win by vicious knockout. However I have only seen him fight on youtube. I have seen Chad Dawson fight. Trying my best to be unbiased I thought Dawson had some really good skills. Very fast as well. Now, I believe Dawson's weak spot is his ability to absorb punishment. He has been knocked down several times in his young career. Diaconu (from watching the Rico Hoy highlights and looking at his record on Boxrec) appears to have a pretty good punch on him. No doubt if he can land flush he will put Dawson away.

The main thing that concerns me is the difference in reach. If Dawson fights from the outside and is able to keep Diaconu at bay I believe it will be a easy night for Dawson.

That being said, LET'S GO DIACONU.

Diaconu vs. Dawson has been postponed.

Sadly, Diaconu has been injured and will not be able to fight on Sep 29. Don King is trying to find a replacement.

Thomas Ulrich (German) was the #2 contender. Too bad they couldn't have scheduled him to take Diaconu's place.

The lone Great Black Hope at light heavyweight dodges a bullet (for now).

What's worse is now they are accusing Diaconu of ducking Dawson!

______________

Every time a white fighter gets injured the wiggers accuse him of ducking their latest Great Black Hope/Dope. I just noticed the head ape in charge, Don King, insinuating that Vitali ducked McCline.

FYI, if anyone cares, I Direct DVR'd this fight and watched Dawson as I was watching Pavlik/Taylor. He looked very impressive throwing hard punches from all angles and he would have given Diaconu fits. Just not sure about Dawson's chin as it was never tested as Diaconu would have. After the fight, Dawson said he was Tarver and it looks like Showtime/Don King will make that fight. Unfortunate for Diaconu, if you lose your place in line to a Don King fighter you're usually have to go to the back of the line.

There are unconfirmed rumors around the boxing forums today, that Dawson will not fight Diaconu and will therefore be stripped of his WBC title. The word is, he had until today to sign for the fight.

So that will mean another world title for a white man - Diaconu the interim titleholder will become the regular WBC champion.

HW: 3 of 4
CW: 1 of 2, if you count Arslan as white, two vacant
LHW: 3 of 4 (Garay is pure Spanish, so he's white)
SMW: 3 of 3, one vacant
MW: 4 of 4

So it appears 14 of these 17 titles are held by whites, with 3 vacant titles (Calzaghe and Haye have moved up, but no announcement yet on Calzaghe's WBO title).

White boxers are doing very, very well.

JD1986 I like your recap of titles held by whites. Looking forward to Wlad's fight this weekend. He needs to have a great performance against the newest "American negro hope". I am, however, always neverous when he fights. I just hope he keeps his head on a swivel and doesn't get careless caught or tired.

Also Adamek is fighting this Friday night on ESPN2 from Chicago. I believe his opponent is some Gary Gomez. Hes a C level fighter but it will be good to see Adamek back in action. Another fellow Pole is fighting on the undercard. I forget his name but I hear he is decent.

Adamek is probably the best cruiserweight in boxing right now and should handle the overhyped Cunningham.

Don't hold out too much hope for Polish heavyweight Marius Wach. He looked like a big guy with limited skills, though he did get the TKO over a black who was 14-2.

I read that the WBC is going to strip Dawson and award Diaconu the belt. So we'll have another champ

Even though his opponent was a nobody I was impressed by Adameks speed. He actually looked faster at cruiserweight than he did against Dawson.Edited by: whiteathlete33

Too much inactivity will ruin a fighter, so it's good Diaconu's taking this stay-active fight against a durable opponent who has never been stopped.

From Fightnews: Diaconu-Pascal on June 19!

InterBox and Groupe Yvon Michel (GYM) are proud to announce that Adrian Diaconu (26-0, 15 KOs) will defend his WBC world light heavyweight title against fellow Montrealer Jean Pascal (22-1, 15 KOs) on June 19th at the Montreal Bell Centre. Presented by the Casino de Montréal, this historical bout will mark two milestones: It will be the first World title bout disputed by two Quebecers, and the first collaboration between InterBox and GYM. Both promoters worked jointly and relentlessly over the past few weeks, culminating in a deal being reached this morning. On June 19th, Adrian Diaconu will step into the Bell Centre ring to defend his WBC championship title for the first time. Jean Pascal will be disputing his second career world title bout, the first being a tremendous and courageous effort last December 6th 2008 in an all action war against current WBC 168 lbs champion Carl Froch. The Shark and Jean Pascal both boxed in separate boxing events last April 4th. Adrian Diaconu easily outpointed David Whittom in a unanimous decision win, and Jean Pascal scored a KO in the 5th round against Pablo Daniel Zamora Nievas.

Diaconu-Pascal fight will be sold out in Montreal for certain!

I just hope the periods of inactivity haven't decreased Diaconu sharpness and speed.

I'm looking for a stream for the Diaconu vs. Pascal fight telecast on Versus, which starts in about an hour from now. There may be one here:
