The Eagles have a fair amount to offer from a CF perspective, especially so as defending Super Bowl champs after dismantling the Chiefs. They have the second best White RB in the league, a starting White safety who started off (predictably enough) as a free agent, and a budding superstar cornerback in Cooper DeJean. That’s three notable “outliers” right there. Throw in a superb 3/5 White o-line and that makes them one of the least onerous teams in the NFL.
Philly boasts 7 White starters this year and 17 total on the 53. That’s an improvement from 2024 (5 White starters, 16 total), 2023 (6 White starters, 12 total), and 2022 (4 White starters and 15 total).
The three o-line starters are LG Landon Dickerson, C Cam Jurgens, and RT Lane Johnson. Johnson was the fourth overall pick of the 2013 draft and is still going strong. 2013 was the year that White tackles were three of the four first picks of the draft, Eric Fisher and Luke Joeckel going before Johnson.
Brett Toth backs up Dickerson at LG, while Drew Kendall is the second team center.
Ben VanSumeren has switched from linebacker to fullback and is listed as the starter, but how much he’ll actually be incorporated into the offense if at all remains to be seen.
Starting tight end Dallas Goedert is a very good one albeit somewhat injury prone. He’s backed up by Grant Calcaterra.
If Saquon Barkley, last year’s 2,000 yard rusher, gets injured Philly has a talented replacement in Will Shipley, the former Clemson star who was drafted by the Eagles in the fourth round in ’24. He didn’t play much as a rookie but ripped off a huge 57 yard run in the playoff game against Washington and then topped it off by running it in for the TD. Shipley is not only an excellent runner but just as capable in the passing game. There’s little question he will shine if/when he gets more of an opportunity – assuming of course that he’s truly beaten out the sluggish A. J. Dillon to be Barkley’s backup. One never knows when it comes to the Caste System.
Tanner McKee and Sam Howell are the backups to Jalen Hurts. McKee looks very capable while Howell is another White QB who needs a better organization to bring out his talents if he ever gets another chance to start.
Reed Blankenship starts at free safety. Not only was he a free agent but he had to overcome the usual army of critics and doubters even after he proved himself, which always happens to White safeties. He’s now finally quieted the hive mind DWF losers and is slowly gaining recognition for being one of the best in the league.
The Eagles drafted Shipley in the fourth round last year, but before that they selected CB Cooper DeJean in the second round, a steal as DeJean was an obvious first round talent. The drafting of DeJean following Denver taking Riley Moss in the third round the year prior set off a number of articles about White CBs and the lack thereof. None of course looked at the core racial politics involved, but the fact that both DeJean and Moss are very talented likely helped them both settle in quickly, though Moss has a number of haters after him among Broncos DWFs. A lot of White football fans simply will not accept the presence of any White players on defense.
In the 2025 draft, the Eagles again drafted an outlier of sorts, taking defensive tackle Ty Robinson from Nebraska in the fourth round. He’s currently the backup nose tackle.
Having a black starting QB takes some of the luster away from the Eagles, much as Patrick Mahomes does for the Chiefs. But both teams offer an above average team otherwise from a demographic perspective, and the Eagles certainly have some “exciting Whites” to cheer for.
