Since 2006, the Mountaineers have started 11, 9, 10, 9, 7, 7, 4, 9, 6, 6, 7, 9, 8, 9, 5, 5, 5, and 8 White players. It’s 8 again this year, 7 of them on a very likeable offense.
I’m not going to do a deep dive on the team, but I do see that Neal Brown is at least making some effort to recruit home state talent, including two White starting receivers, Preston Fox and Hudson Clement. Starting LT Wyatt Milum is also from West Virginia as is starting RT Nick Malone.
But then again, he’s not offering scholarships, at least to White receivers. CFB’s depth chart for WVU lists 12 receivers. Four White, eight Black. And guess what? All four White receivers are walk-ons, including starters Fox and Clement, while all eight upsiders are three and four star recruits. The racial discrimination is so blatant and open.
Senior Garrett Greene started at QB last season for the first time and threw for 2,406 yards with an impressive TD to interception ratio of 16:4.
Finnish born Edward Vesterinen is the only White starter on defense. Ben Cutter and Caden Biser are second string linebackers.
