Since 2007, Washington State have started 8, 9, 8, 11, 13, 13, 10, 8, 9, 7, 7, 4, 6, 6, 4, and 3 white players. In 2024, they project to start 6.

Not a lot to say here: John Mateer seems to have won the QB battle against All Big Sky first-team transfer Zevi Eckhaus. The Cougars are the other Pac-12 school missing a conference home and will play a mix of teams this year. They started last season 4-0 with wins over Wisconsin and Oregon State but finished 5-7.

Head coach Jake Dickert is a former D3 player in his third year of his first head coaching stint. He's bounced around previously at a number of smaller schools. Dickert was DC at Wyoming to oversee safety Andrew Wingard, but did not recruit him. His current roster doesn't look much like Wyoming's.

Reserve running back Dylan Paine tallied 150 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries last year. His younger brother Aiden is a reserve safety.
