Since 2005, Washington started 6, 8, 9, 8, 8, 6, 5, 4, 6, 8, 9, 11, 8, 10, 8, 4, and 3 white players, excluding 2014 where no write-up was done. Jedd Fisch’s first Huskies team projects to start 5.

Kalen DeBoer brought the least-white Washington team ever to the national championship game and was promptly hired by Alabama to continue that tireless pursuit. The newly-rejuvenated Huskies program hired Jedd Fisch away from former conference-mate Arizona. Fisch, who is Jewish, did not play college or even high school football, but he was college roommates with Howie Roseman as an undergrad at Florida. He was not much of a caste-buster, starting 4 whites last season with the Wildcats.

Will Rogers signs on as a one-year rental via Mississippi State, where he should have a green light to air the ball out. Fisch has a true freshman black quarterback following him as a recruit that is apparently already QB2 on the roster. Despite winning the Joe Moore Award in 2023 with a scheme built on pass protection, this year's piecemeal replacement line could be brutal. If the Ourlads depth chart is accurate, Washington projects to start 12 new transfers out of 22.

LB Carson Bruener was a top tackler last season. There are more white backups on defense than in recent years. Sophomore Tristan Dunn has moved from WLB to SS as a sophomore and could see meaningful snaps.
