Since 2005, the Vols have started 4, 5, 5, 5, 4, 4, 2, 4, 10, 5, 6, 7, 5, 1, 1, 4, 1 and 2 White players. (How did they have 10 one year??) This year the number possibly rises to 4, but that being said CFB Depth only lists 2 compared to OurLads’ 4. Regardless it’s the usual tiny number.
Andrej Karic starts at left guard, Cooper Mays at center. OurLads lists Miles Kitselman as the starting tight end and Will Brooks as the starting free safety, while CFB Depth has both as backups. Both are walk-ons. Brooks is a redshirt senior who never started previously so maybe OurLads is being overly optimistic.
Gaston Moore is the second string QB (another walk-on), Jake Merklinger is the third string quarterback.
Denmark-born guard Shamurad Umarov is a second stringer, as is tackle Dayne Davis. LB Jeremiah Telander is also listed as a second stringer.
