Since 2005, Toledo has started 8, 9, 9, 9, 8, 7, 8, 8, 9, 10, 11, 6, 6, 9, 3, 6, and 7 white players. In 2022, they project to start 8.
Toledo’s black quarterback seems entrenched as an underclassman. There won’t be a lot of touches for white players save returning starter TE Dalton Andrews.
Safety Maxen Hook was named to a preseason All-MAC second team (Athlon). Nate Bauer received the honor for an All-MAC third team. He’ll play some sort of safety/nickel back role as a starter. On a pretty basic caste team, it’s cool to have two esteemed white players sharing the backfield. Woliver and Recker should factor in as pass rushers, as Toledo plays a 4-2-5 base with two DTs and two rush linebackers.
