With the exclusion of 2018, Ohio State has started 12, 11, 11, 10, 10, 12, 12, 8, 4, 6, 6, 3, 3, 5, 6 and 3 whites since 2005. This year is five.

Ohio State once again has an extremely talented white QB stuck as the back up; former five star Kyle McCord is the back up while four star Devin Brown is third string. Easing the log jam of uber talented white QBs is the transfer of QB Jack Miller to Florida and QB Quinn Ewers to Texas.

TE Cade Stover, who also has had career starts at DE and LB, will be the next in a great line of white Ohio State TEs. The two back ups behind him, Joe Royer and Mitch Rossi, will also play meaningful snaps.

C Luke Wylper is the lone starter on the OL. Last year's starter Harry Miller retired due to mental health issues that almost led to suicide. Hopefully he is well.

There are three (four?) guarantees in life: death, taxes, and an Ohio State team having a star white defender(s) with a black QB.

Despite dropping off significantly in white starters the last decade, tOSU always seems to have an abudance of white scholarship defenders, many who become stars in both college football and the pros. Second year DE Jack Sawyer was tied for the most sacks on the team last year, despite playing the fifth most snaps of all the DEs. The former five star recruit is likely the next superstar in following with the Bosa brothers and Trey Hendrickson. Ohio State is going to shuffle a lot of players around the field on defense, but Sawyer, along with veteran linebackers Tommy Eichenberg and Reid Carrico. Starting safety Bryson Shaw transferred to USC. Back up DL Noah Procter left for Cincinatti.

There have also been raving reviews for LB Gabe Powers (who reportedly ran a 4.41 in HS) and DE Caden Curry, both true freshmen who stood out in spring practices. Expect the pair to continue the standout white defender tradition down the line.

Offense -
TE - Cade Stover
C - Luke Wypler

Defense -
DE - Jack Sawyer
LB - Tommy Eichenberg
LB - Reid Carrico

Key back ups include QB Kyle McCord, TEs Joe Royer and Mitch Rossi, LT Zen Michalski, LG Toby Wilson, C Jakob James, RT Josh Fryar, DE Caden Curry, and LB Gabe Powers.

Tommy Eichenberg leads the defense with 105 tackles going into the last week of the regular season - the next most prolific tackler has 66. He also leads the team with 5 QB hits and 12 TFL.

The Buckeyes are down to just three white starters: Eichenberg, Stover, and Wypler. Jack Sawyer has featured in every game but is a rotational DE. Reid Carrico has just one tackle on the season with six DNP's. Gabe Powers is on his way to redshirting this season.

It's worth noting that Eichenberg, Sawyer, Carrico, and Powers are all from the state of Ohio. The Buckeyes recruit nationwide, but they will offer local white kids on defense as "marriages of convenience" if they are ranked with four stars.

True freshman Devin Brown is listed as the third-string QB. I'll believe it when I see it, but as it stands, next year's QB camp battle will be between two white underclassmen.

Again appreciate the end of the season updates! I would bet my left nut Day finds another quota back to bring in.

Day is probably rethinking a lot after another loss to “that school up North”.
