Since 2005, Georgia has started 5, 5, 5, 5, 5, 6, 2, 8, 7, 8, 7, 4, 3, 3 and 4 white players. 5 this year, with some interesting storylines.

UGA is consistently a pretty dark team, but they also always seem to have a (relative) abundance of white skill players to complement their talented white QBs. This year, they start arguably the most dominant TE of the last few years in Brock Bowers. Sophomore WR Ladd McConkey joins him on the offense, and should be the recipient of a healthy share of targets. Freshman WR Cole Speer should hopefully be the starting slot WR in a few seasons, ensuring UGA has a starting white WR for some time. Highly recruited Tate Ratledge is the lone white starter on a very dark OL depth chart.

UGA has the walk on, movie script starting QB again in Stetson Bennett, whose position seems solidified with JT Daniels move to WVU. Behind Bennett is the usual UGA logjam of elite white QB recruits in Carson Beck, Brock Vandagriff, and Gunner Stockton. Thankfully, Arch Manning isn't joining the list next year. For a while it looked like he would. Cash Jones, who was a New Mexico State commit with additional offers from Army and FIU is no where to be found on the depth chart at RB. He is fading into obscurity.

Walk on S Dan Jackson returns as a starter. Sophomore LB Chaz Chambliss is a back up at one of the LB spots, and even saw time at DE during the spring game. I anticipate he will play a lot of snaps, and should be a starter by next year. DL Bill Norton has yet to find a huge role, but he should still see the field occasionally.

Offense -

Notable back ups include QBs Carson Beck, Brock Vandagriff, and Gunner Stockton, TEs Oscar Help, Brett Seither, and Ryland Goede, WR Cole Speer, C Warren Ericson,

I’ll tune into UGA games just to watch these few starters. If you’re only going to start 5 at least there are 2 pass catchers, a QB, and a DB!

Thanks for the excellent write up! For the SEC, this might be as good as it gets. Like RR said, 4 out of the 5 are exciting positions. Better than a team that starts 6 players but it’s all Oline and a FB.

Sucks about Cash Jones......We all predicted this would happen.....Transfer now!
