Since 2005, the Rams have started 15, 16, 17, 15, 14, 13, 12, 8, 8, 9, 7, 5, 8, 7, and 6 whites. Looks for another lowly year of 6.
The Rams are rebuilding after yet another unsuccessful couple years with Steve Addazio at the helm, panned across the board as a terrible hire from the get go. Since Sonny Lubick’s retirement 2007, the Rams have churned through Steve Fairchild, Jim McElwain, Mike Bobo and Addazio and have only found success in 1.5-2 of those years with Caste McElwain.
Jay Norvell gets his shot, along with what must be half his Reno roster from last year. This roster was already pretty fully caste, but don’t expect Norvell, mixed himself, to right any ships here. The one bright spot, compared to Addazio, is his white QB support. After guiding the great Carson Strong the last few years, I’m hopeful, that he can guide the young Clay Millen or Giles Pooler to years of success.
The white starters are all young as a whole, so hopefully the “6” number will be the low water mark for the next few seasons.
Jack Howell started a good amount of time last year, so we may get the rare sight of two white safeties on the field for a good chunk of the year
