2015 Australian National Outdoor Champs.

19 yr old Joshua Clarke ran 10.19 win the 100m.
Melissa Breen won the women's 100m in 11.26.
Both are very good times.
 
Joshe Clark has amazing potential. I watched the race and he got a rare poor start. He still ran down the field rather easily. I can't remember Australia having this many good young sprinters in decades. Very exciting times. As for Melissa Breen, it was her 5th national title. Congrats to both of them. For those who want to watch it you can click on the links for Day 3 and still watch every event. Tommorow is the 200 meters for both the men and women.

Yes, I was there yesterday. 10c and raining. Jack Hale did so well for a 16 year old. Not as crafty as the old pros yet. He needed another 3 metres. Couldn't get out of his semi.
Melissa BREEN under performed as I expect from her. On her day she's fast but no champion attitude compared to someone like Sally Pearson

I did like Josh Clarke's run. I saw him live at the Sydney meet where he nearly dead heated with Alonso Edwards. He seems to have picked up a meter from then till now.
He's not competing internationally this year. He just completed his first injury-free season and wants another one before next year's Olympics. At 19 years old that's probably a good idea. He has strength to build and muscle to grow.
If he can come out with 10.15 or so next February or March that would be great. The Australian Institute of Sport will give him royal treatment for the next 12 months for sure.
22 yo Alexander Hartmann, 2nd in the 100 with a PB 10.30, has improved a lot and also clocked 20.54/200 this season. He's tall and it will interesting to see how he builds on these performances over the next 12 months.

Melissa Breen has to improve under pressure. She has lost sponsorship once and will do so again if she goes OS and runs 11.40s instead of 11.20s or under. She is not worthy to be Australian record holder for mine - a fast girl but she cannot race well.

21yo. dancing hurdler, Michelle Jenneke, got sub 13 twice on the one day. She now has legal 12.82,12.92,13.04 this season after a 13.23 best before this year. Her technique has improved in line with her 100m time- not spectacular at 11.76 but getting better

Great to see you back posting mastermulti. I think it's gonna be a great summer for track with the World Champs coming up. I feel a big year for Lemaitre and Schippers. Hoping we continue to see more of the youth rise to the top. Australia is looking really good for the next 5 to 10 years in athletics. Exciting times indeed.

There was a large crowd at the Sydney meet and plenty at the wet Stawell meeting over 3 days too. But I think our standards have dropped on the track. When only one guy breaks a legal 10.30 I can't be overly excited. I've seen years (mid-late 90s) where we'd have 4 guys do that and 3/4 women under 11.35. I guess it was the wave leading up to the Sydney Olympics and then lots of them retired.
The young guys will be good to follow should they not be lured into rugby union or league. But with the prospect of being able to buy a home in 2 years of rugby it'll be hard to resist
