Tulane was better in years past with 7,9,7,8,11,10,8. Sad to see them hit a new low in white starters.

What does DB Sam Scofield & LB-Justin Anderson(UL-Lafayette) have in common?? They are the ONLY white starters on their defense...& the Best Player on their defense!! A few other white defenders may start in spot-duty....

Tulane S Sam Scofield picks up national award: Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week

Tulane safety Sam Scofield added two more weekly honors to his resume on Tuesday as the junior safety was named the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA)/Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week and was also selected as the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) Defensive Player of the Week.

Scofield earned the honors after posting a career-high 18 tackles to go with a pair of pass break-ups, 1.5 tackles for loss and a forced fumble in a 14-7 C-USA victory against the Golden Hurricane. The win helped improve Tulane to 6-2 overall and remain undefeated in conference play with a 4-0 mark.

Scofield has been added to the 2013 Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List. Five finalists for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy will be announced by the Football Writers Association of America on Nov. 21. The winner will be revealed on Dec. 9 during a banquet that the Charlotte Touchdown Club sponsors at the Westin Hotel in Charlotte, N.C.

What a concept! But lets be real those are the only 2 white defensive players in Louisiana worth a damn! Sarcasm of course but I've noticed behind Montana on the offensive side and Scofield on defense the Green Wave are 6-2 whens the last time that happened? I'm assuming when they had Forte.

Nope, they have had some talented players, quite a few talented White dbs like the White kid from John Curtis who played corner, 4.3 speed, forget his name right now, just poor coaching. The best record they had during Matt Forte's time there was 5-6 his freshman year where he split carries about 50/50. The most they won after that was 4, I think even a 2 win season. They couldn't get to .500 the year Forte rushed for over 2,000 yards. I grew up going to Tulane games, and they tend to have some White players at black positions, but the coaching they have had has made it painful to watch. I mean they should have lost to Southeastern which is FCS but got bailed out by a ton of calls, and it wasn't a televised game and the fans acted like it was no big deal "oh its some low level team" who cares if they call that or not". Although they were facing Tommy Connors, who even made it through being tripled team while blitzing.

Bob Toledo was fired, and I was happy, he threw his players under the bus for losing "its not the scheme, its the players, we run the same scheme as USC". But now they have a black head coach that I think is under qualified, he was a wide receivers coach for the Saints, no experience as a coordinator, just a jump from wide receivers coach to head coach. He might have a good staff surrounding him though.

I think this is the first time they are bowl eligible in a while. I can't remember the last time they were in a bowl. Last memory was against Hawaii when Timmy Chang was the qb under June Jones with the run n shoot.

I was really hoping they would offer Mike Leach a spot after Toledo, and at the time Leach expressed interest if they offered, but it never happened. Leach could have picked up many of the overlooked White players in the Louisiana area and had a powerhouse in the C-USA.
