Konz might actually be very good at DE. A guy with a 46 inch vertical for that size might be a very effective pass rusher.

2009 #4 overall pick Aaron Curry is now officially a bust:

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/seahawks/2016349699_hawk29.html

He's been demoted to back-up OLB and it's pretty obvious that his time in Seattle is up. In his 2+ years with the team, he's been tried in a number of roles, but failed in each one of them. There have been a number of commentaries excusing his poor performance, the most ridiculous I remember reading was that he's so freakishly athletic and talented, and just needs time to figure out how to put it all to good use. :icon_rolleyes:

Recall that 3 White LBs (Cushing, Matthews, and Laurinaitis) who were drafted after Curry in 2009 have all become legit pros. Matthews is arguably a top 10 player while Cushing and Laurinaitis are amongst the top LBs in the league.

Some doublespeak from Weenieworld:

Seahawks signed DE Jameson Konz from their practice squad. Drafted as a hybrid tight end-wide receiver after a dominant Combine performance in 2010, Konz converted to defensive end in this year's training camp. Though he's a freak of nature, "The Konz" will likely be limited to a special teams role for the foreseeable future.

Weenieworld also reporting that David Vobora has been signed. So, the Seahawks place one white player, Mccoy, on IR, but sign two others.

Seattle also experiencing an epidemic of corner injuries..

Thurmond out for the season: Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said in his Week 7 postgame conference that DB Walter Thurmond is lost for the season with a cracked fibula. Thurmond was injured late in the second quarter as he went up for a pass breakup, but he collided with teammate Earl Thomas. Thurmond was eventually carted to the locker room. He had two tackles in the game.

Fantasy Analysis

Thurmond stepped into the starting lineup because of a season-ending injury to Marcus Trufant. Now, he is going to miss a golden opportunity with a season-ending injury of his own. Continue to leave him off Fantasy rosters.

THe Seahawks signed Keith Darhbut to their practice squad. He ran a 4.38 with a 1.42 10 yd split at his pro day.Its good to see him given a look because he played div 3 football and needless to say there is a chasm between that level and the NFL so he's very much a project.
Here's a link to more information on Darbut for those who are interested.

Hopefully Blaine Sumner (his former teammate ) can get a shot as well. This guy was unblockable. Big Nose Tackle, impressive athletic ability. Two tremendous athletes at Colorado School of Mines, thats a tough school academic wise. Sumner is raw but half the defensive tackles I see are. I am surprised Darbut is just now getting a shot on practice squad, I thought he would get one a long time ago with Clay Matthews opening up the door for the de/olb pass rushers.

I thought this was notable enough for the SEA thread..

Mike Williams, whose done nothing this year, is now out for the year: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/552678/mike-williams

Williams done after breaking ankle: Seahawks WR Mike Williams was carted off the field in the third quarter Week 15 at Chicago with an ankle injury and didn't return. He had two catches for 31 yards before leaving. Coach Pete Carroll announced after the game that Williams had suffered a broken ankle and will miss the rest of the season.

Mike Williams was the 10th pick of the 1st round by the Lions in 2005 despite being slower than any White WR in the league (and many of the tight ends). He quickly ballooned up to 270 ultra-lazy pounds or so and was out of the NFL for two years after the '07 season. Williams then managed to get down to 240 and was signed by his coach at USC Pete Carroll (who had no use for Mike Hass) and had a decent year for the Seahawks in '10, his first and only one, before his production went way down this past season and he eventually suffered a severe ankle injury.

He's still too heavy at 240 and wants to lose weight. 2012 will be the 8th NFL season since Williams was drafted; maybe he'll somehow find the motivation to slim down to his proper playing weight in another 4 or 5 years.

Although he's off crutches and rehabbing at Seahawks headquarters, Mike Williams (fibula) is unsure if he'll ready for OTAs in mid-April. Williams is determined to get better, faster, and more explosive this offseason, dropping well below his 240-pound playing weight of the past two seasons. That's going to be easier said than done coming off a fractured left ankle and fibula.

There are countless black receivers who come into training camp over weight and out of shape. Yet I can't even remember a single white receiver that wasn't in the best of shape year in and year out even though there are so few of them. In fact ,other than Jared Lorenzen ,it's extremely rare to see a white player at any position that is overweight and out of shape.
