Mexican History and 3rd world politics

I'm not certain, but I think that "the Conquest of Mexico" to which your teacher refers is a compilation of stories from the Aztec perspective regarding the time of the Spanish conquest (some of which were written down by the Spanish priests at a very early date).

    Taxpayers fund globalist

Those are important questions raised in that last paragraph. And somehow, I doubt that the government will fund the answers to these question! A very insightful quote, I think, that I stole from the comments on another website that are related to this topic: "...it's a problem... with all...

Wariner is back and may threaten 43.19!

I don't think enough good things can be said about Wariner in how he breaks down caste perceptions, at least in the USA. I myself thought of the 400m as the ultimate domain of the black man, an intermediate event where neither the raw power nor the great lungs of the white man could reach. It...

    Anglo / Irish unity

The central reason that western man is on death's doorstep is not because of the squabbling, but because the squabbling has found no deep resolution; except in a superficial sense of setting aside differences in order to build economic partnerships.

Mexican History and 3rd world politics

I can't believe that you, snow, are a student! From your brilliant football postings, I sure would have thought that you were an old football coach somewhere past middle age. If you want to be able to juxtapose Good & Evil in terms of Europeans vs. non-Europeans -- and be defensibly...

    New U.S. sex study-findings mixed

Colonel, I would be shocked and also encouraged, except for one thing -- the mention you make just prior to being shocked, about homosexualism. My guess is that some of the drop in sexual activity is not actually due to people having better morals, but because of decreasing hormonal levels in a...

    States facing Bankruptcy

It sounds like Minnesota is one of the states not in the red. This post doesn't fit well in this thread, but former Governor Pawlenty is positioning himself for a presidential run, and so this may be of some interest: The Minnesota Watchdog: Friday Commentary

TSA lies about mass transit scanners/gropings

Surreal. If it really comes to this where these paid perverts are trolling the streets for their jollies, I will consider lethal force as a valid option against this sexual assault.Edited by: Observer

    Riots in Wisconsin?

Although not directly addressing the point regarding "Teach for America", there has been evidence that the extreme achievement problems of the poorest and most "at-risk" can be mitigated -- and at a bargain price. It is also relevant to the secondary debate on this thread of private vs...

    Riots in Wisconsin?

As Westside rightly notes, the Catholic schools are disproportionately NOT "wealthy white kids", and get a much better "bang for the buck" than the government schools. The research on this is long and deep. A link: The researched case for Catholic schools However, even with that said, the...

    Riots in Wisconsin?

The way I read the article, mostly white college graduates will teach at mostly non-white schools, but without having to go through the conventional teachers' colleges. Why is this bad? I clicked on some of the links on the "Teach for America" website: http://voices2.teachforamerica.org/-...

    Riots in Wisconsin?

Quite frankly, the government school system that we have in this country molds us to become good kosher communists; although the content in the classroom itself is probably a lesser problem than the "socializing" element of modern schools -- which mushes the brain to crave garbage or even...

    Deracinated White Conservatives

Any time you can get a bunch of young kids engaged in the give-and-take of a thoughtful conversation, that is a plus. It seemed to my eye that the younger ones found what Mr. Kelso was saying as captivating, yet somehow unthinkable. They were not convinced of anything that he was saying, but...

    Riots in Wisconsin?

Teachers and pay have become easy targets partially because everyone now knows a few homeschoolers and thinks, "How can it be that a few hundred dollars per year will produce a better quality product than the 10x more that we spend producing a shoddy product in the government schools?"
