    Playoffs ’08

I think I heard the adjective "athletic" applied to Leonhard; will these announcers be fined for using that word in connection with a white player, I wonder.

    Whites starring inNFC Champ. game...

It was nice to see Curtis have a good game and get modest recognition (how I wish he played for a different QB) but I'll confess I'm glad McNabb and that svelte Andy Reid aren't going to the SB.

    Tarvaris Jackson

He needs the nine or so years that Kordell Stewart got.

    Playoffs ’08

Jared Allen and the Vikings defense played a great game, giving up only one offensive touchdown on something of a fluke play (screen to Westbrook). Even a mediocre QB could have gotten a win for the Vikings, but Jackson couldn't even muster first downs in the 2d half. One of the announcers...

    Matt Cassel--system or great?

Sure, but that makes the actual talent of actual players the basis of success (good o-line and receivers) and not a particular "system." Besides, the same "system" notion is used often to explain why the receivers, especially Welker, are successful.

    Tarvaris Jackson

You may be right. He played so little I'd forgotten about him.

    NFL Week 16

I predicted at the beginning of the year that Hester would be a bust at WR. (God forbid Mike Hass ever see the field in a Bears uniform.) Hester entered the Monday Night game at 75th in the league in receptions. THIS is the player jackass "Jaws" and his girlfriends decided to heap praise upon...

    Matt Cassel--system or great?

I'm sick of this "he's good because of the system" crap. If there's some magic formula that allows teams to succeed, why haven't the Raiders or Vikings applied it to DuhMarcuss Russell or Lavoris Jackson?

    Tarvaris Jackson

Lavoris played one good quarter last week and then stunk. You'd never know that from the girls in the press. I've seen every Vikings QB since Joe Kapp, and Lavoris is the worst of them all.

    Idiot "Playmate" Denigrates Curtis

"I mean he's kind of like a Plaxico Burress kind of player." Maybe they can be cellmates.

    Week 15

In a similar vein, the girls in the booth gushed over Marshall's 127 yards against the Jets, though they had said nothing at all about Peyton Hillis' 129 yards against them (I mean the girls caling the game).

Will Hillis run for 1,000 yards in NFL?

I'll be optimistic and say "yes." He's too damn good to go unnoticed and unused. Others have mentioned that his longest run was only 19 yards, but that's in only sixty-some carries (btw, how many times have Bettis, Ron Dane, Brandon Jacobs, Eddie George and Reggie Bush broken 80 yarders?), and a...

    Peyton Hillis

Shanahan ran only two or three times the entire second half--I think he's counting on Hillis as a ball carrier.

Roddy White somehow becoming a star

I think this is the right place for this idiot bit of caste-whoring. Yahoo columnist claims White, once nearly a bust, is "developing" into a "marquee" threat. Gosh, wonder why. Notice the sympathetic treatment of Dogboy Vick, and how the writer gives more credit to Joe Horn, who spent one whole...

Super Bowl XIII on NFL Network

My vote for best football name: Bruschi. If only it were spelled "Brewski"!

But Duh-Marcus is having another stellar game. What a juggernaut.

    Endzone Celebrations

I've noticed a lot of chest-pumping and arm-waving recently--you can't help but think of certain other animal species known for this kind of behavior.

    Peyton Hillis

I watched him against Oakland, and he knocked three or four Raiders out of the game, at least temporarily.

    NFL Week 13 2008

Last week the NY Times Sports section featured an article which explained how black Falcon fans were, very reluctantly, starting to accept Ryan. The racial solidarity and special-pleading were nauseating and would never have been printed if the roles were reversed, ie. if white fans had...

    NFL Week 13 2008

Superman Hester dropped at least two catchable passes. I predicted that he'd be a bust at WR, but of course losing is better than having two white men catching the ball in the same game. Why on earth don't the Bears trade Hass?

    NFL Week 13 2008

The two-headed moron Berman-Jackson had one Hillis highlight, the touchdown, and a very quick observation "He ran for 129 yards." That was it.

    NFL Week 13 2008

Excellent game from Jared Allen so far, btw.
