The most unfairly treated White player, not in the NBA in recent years, has been signed to a two-way contract by the Lakers. He's on the Lakers roster tonight.

The former Gonzaga superstar impressed so much on Long Island last season, the Nets signed him to a two-year deal. In 9 games with the Brooklyn Nets Drew averaged 12 .1 PPG, 7.7. RPG and shot over 44% from the field. And the athletic, 6"10" forward became a "sudden fan favorite",

But, not surprisingly, the Caste Nets let him go after using 5 first round picks last June -- (4 of the 5 picks seem to be totally useless, only the Russian teen from BYU plays at all).

• March 2025: The Brooklyn Nets signed Timme to a multi-year contract after he performed well with their G League affiliate, the Long Island Nets.
• October 2025: The Nets waived him, and he was traded by the Long Island Nets to the South Bay Lakers' G League team.
• November 2025: The Lakers officially signed him to a two-way contract

Drew was averaging over 25 points per game in the G-League this season. I believe, without a doubt, he's been the best player outside of the NBA the last three years, barely ahead of McClung.

Hopefully, he gets a real chance with the Lakers, as he seems to be a player always on the "edge" of being cut, regardless how well he plays

I wonder if the lack of support that whites have shown the nba in the last ten years or so is finally having an impact?

Good question. Using the rosters that I broke down in NBA season thread (sort of buried on page 5) and the NFL roster breakdowns we can compare the Whitest teams from each league.

NFL
By starters (at beginning of season):
49ers started 10/22 (45% White).
Broncos, Vikings and Colts started 9/23 (41%).

By roster:
49ers, Broncos and Vikings employed 21/53 (40% White).
Rams, Steelers and Seahawks employed 19/53 (36%).

NBA
By starters:
Bulls and Jazz start 3/5 (60% White).
Many teams (Hornets, Nuggets, Rockets, Lakers, Thunder and Trailblazers) start 2/5 (40%).

By roster:
Grizzlies and Heat employ 7/15 (47% White).
Celtics, Hornets, Bulls, Lakers, Thunder and Jazz employ 6/15 (40%).

On the flip side, the NBA has 1 team (76ers) with zero Whites in total and multiple teams (Pistons, Mavericks, Knicks and Bucks) with only 1 White on the roster. So 0 and 7%. In the NFL there are no teams with zero White starters. The lowest roster total is 10 (Dolphins, Packers and Cardinals) or 19% White still. So NBA has a higher ceiling and lower floor.
