unlike Elite XC the WEC will accualy have a good MMA showm. The headliner is 145 match between Uriah Faber VS Jens Pulver. Pulver is a former UFC champion, But I expect Faber to win. Faber is one of the best fighters pound for pound. I hope to eventually see a Faber/Penn WEC/UFC fight soon. Also on the card Is Heavy weight Tim Mckenzie vs Undefeated Prospct Jeremy Lang. I have heard great things about Lang. However I like Tim Mckenzie. Some Other fighters on the card include Undefeated 155 prospect Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone, 155 Razor Rob, and 145 Jeff Curran. I expect all three to pull out victories.

I'll be watching. I need to get that EliteXC fiasco out of my head.

Excellent fights, except for the first fight that Razor Rob won by decision. Very competitive, highly skilled fighters in these matches. Title fight up next.

Faber retains the featherweight WEC championship by UD, 50-45 over Jens Pulver. The fight was way better than the score cards show; Faber won the first three rounds by a close margin, and then gradually took the fight away from Pulver for good over the last two rounds. He hit Jens with some super hard shots and Jens wouldn't go down. We should all be thankful that this fight wasn't on CBS, or Jens would have lost by ref stoppage more than once. that was a great fight despite it's one-sidedness.

I'm pretty disappointed Urijah Faber came out looking like a f**king dumbass and blasting tupac. Nevertheless from what I've seen tonight, I think he represents "the definitive MMA fighter" in his weight class much as GSP and Anderson Silva do, by exhibiting great skill in all manners of fighting. Strength, Speed, Power? this white kid from california's got it, even if he looked like he had a temporary lapse of identity crisis. All respect to Pulver for being BRUTALLY HAMMERED and coming back for more every time. I can't count how many times I thought the fight was more or less over. Good stuff.

Compare the way the refs on the WEC card handled the fights as opposed to those in EliteXC. The Faber - Pulver fight might have been stopped several times had it been an EliteXC show, but the refs working the WEC card let it go and we got to see a great fight with Pulver working his way back into the match.

A live WEC event will be airing on Versus Sunday night, 9pm Eastern. That same event will likely be repeated on Versus on a almost daily basis for the next week. With NHL hockey in the offseason, they are having alot of repeat programming.

wec results here are some of the results from the WEC event.
205
Steve Cantwell 7-1 def Brain Stann 8-1 by second round ko. Cantwell 22 becomes the young WEC Heavyweight Champ ever.
170
Carlos Condit 170 def Hiroitsu Miura foutrth round ko- Condit 25 is probably one of the best at 170. He has sucessfully defended his title in his last 6 fights.
170
Brock Larson ko Carlos Prater- Both these fighters are very good but Larson just destroyed Prater.
170
Shane Roller sub Todd Moore- Roller 25 has a good future and considered one of the top prospects to look out for.
155
Jamie Varner 1round tko Marcus Hicks. Hicks is a big black guy built likea pitbull but Varner just detroyed him. Hicks is a legit boxer who got dominatedby a grappler. Varner 23 in a few years could problably hold his own against the likes of BJ Penn and Shawn Sherk.

It was a good fight card. I was very suprised to see 21 year old Cantwell beat Stann standing up.Cantwell had got knocked out in his first fight with Stann. Cantwell just "punished" him throughout the fight with multiple punches and kicks coming in all directions and angles. Stann had said in the pre-fight hype that no fighter in the world can "punish" him. They each have a victory over the other and I hope there is a third fight. Varner destroyed Hicks but Hicks is tough and Varner had to work hard to get the KO. He landed a very hard knee to Hicks chin and he still didn't go down. The Condit/Miura fight was the best match of the night and I would gladly watch it again. It will be repeated on Versus throughout the week and so in case you missed it you will get another chance.Edited by: guest301
