Here’s a link to discussion of the NFL ending the Wonderlic test because it discriminates against the leagues chosen ones. Good clip of Cooper Cup at the end.

As part of the Not So Great Reset, the National Football League is stopping giving its hugely entertaining 12 minute Wonderlic IQ test to draft prospects. After all, we don't get to know the IQs of any other sets of celebrities, so why should football players not be exempt from objective scrutiny too? From NBC Sports: Report: NFL abandons the Wonderlic test Posted by Mike Florio on January 5, 2022, 11:01 AM EST In a memo distributed to all NFL teams on Wednesday, a copy of which was obtained by Rob Maaddi of the Associated Press, the league explained that

Read More Here: https://www.unz.com/isteve/nfl-cancels-its-wonderlic-iq-test/

Era of super smart QBs can now continue with nothing more than 40 yards to measure how good they are.

Nooooo! But to be honest I’m surprised it lasted as long as it did.
It was one of the ”eye openers” for me actually.

Over the years there have been too many idiots (literally) who scored the random mark any box score that the league has looked like enablers helping the drunk relative who crashes in the basement buy a bottle of Thunderbird.

This actually makes teams like the Patriots stronger and dumber and cheaper teams like the Cardinals more reliant on the scouting services.

I remember a LB named Manny Lawson. He rocked a 43 on his Wonderlic. Calvin Johnson scored a 41. Not all the blacks are Radios. I learned that quickly when I was in the military (although I certainly did meet some dumb mofos). Now teams won't have that tool to help identify the exceptional minds. Of any race. And it cheats the Lawsons and Johnsons of the league.

I did read a first person training camp account where several players were released shortly after taking their Wonderlics back in the day when the test was not part of the pre-draft process. I don't know how reliable a predictor the test is for a player's success but ending it might betray fear of a certain inconvenient truth in the big picture.

Calvin Johnson was the rare black WR who wasn't a diva. He let his performance speak for itself.

There's a spectrum from Calvin Johnson on one end to Antonio Brown on the other extreme. Most black WRs, while falling in between the two, tend closer to Brown.

My favorite NFL wonderlic moment was Vince Young scoring a 6 at the 2006 scouting combine. That proved to be a great indicator for how his career would go.

Probably not a very PC thing to say but Young had that score written all over his face.
