Mike Kafka, an Eggles' 4th round pick has been very impressive so far in the teams off-season activities. He's battling for the 3rd string position behind Kevin Kolb, and the "supa affletic" Mike "Doggie" Vick.

Here are a few snippets about his performance so far:

<UL>
<LI>Northwestern rookie QB Mike Kafka (Drafted in the 4th Rd) â€" Showed good pocket presence, was able to zip some passes in the redzone, and read his reads well. </LI>
<LI>Surprisingly the most successful quarterback in the drills today was probably rookie Mike Kafka, who hit rookie tight end Clay Harbor three times for scores. Harbor was taking advantage of the backup middle linebackers in the red zone drills.</LI>
<LI>Everything is different, starting with the first locker in the locker room. Previously inhabited by McNabb, that spot now belongs to rookie QB Mike Kafka, a fourth-round pick. Now Kolb, a fourth-year veteran whose locker is two spots from Kafka's (and next to Michael Vick's), will be playing the role of mentor instead of pupil.</LI>[/list]

Most reports about Kafka have been glowing. Of course, the love for Vick is insipid and annoying while reading Eagles reports, most gush about his "burst" and all of that, while glossing over the reports that "he doesn't read the field well". Duh!

I liked Kafka at Northwestern and I'll continue to like him in the NFL. It is only a matter of time before Vick messes up again, and besides he's not even that good to begin with.
