He has become the bad boy of tennis but truth be told he is a man's man who competes like an animal. I am a huge fan. People are getting all worked up over his behaviour but man do they have short memories. Think of J Mac or Jimmy Connors. Those guys were way worse. He has blinding speed and always gives 100%. Compare that if you will to pansy Randy Moss. The media gets nervous if a white athlete gets too agg

C word that was scratched out above rhymes with locky. Also of note, another aussie Alicia Molik took down Venus Williams. Speaking of bad sorts the media forgets about Venus' pri-madonna behaviour back when she was winning grand slams. She was graceless but the media lapped it up. She was queen of the hill at the time and she acted like it which is fine but I sensea double standard is at play when it comes to Hewitt. And that whole Blake incident back when was blown way out of proportion. Hewitt competes hard so what? Guy probably doesn't have a racist bone in his body for all we know. The media can be such a pansy.

You're right about the double standards. We see it in the media coverage of all sports.

It's nice to see the Williams girls on the decline. Looks like payback is coming to the arrogant primadonnas. Venus seems washed up, as far as ever being near the top of the rankings again. Serena is much better than Venus but not as dominant as before. Sharapova may have permanently punctured her balloon of invincibility and confidence at Wimbledon. Was watching Nadia Petrova (Russian) play her the other night, and she had just as much power as Serena. She lacks consistency and imagination in her game though, and Serena squeaked past her.

watching the women as much as the men.I think that more
of these Russian women need to move here.lol.

Maria Sharapova plays Serena Williams on Wednesday night at 9:30 eastern time (ESPN). Maria has beaten Williams the past two meetings. Could be a great match. Go Maria!

Well Sharapova finally lost but it took everything in
Serena's power to beat her in 3 sets.Sharapova was up
in the last set 5-3 but ended up losing 8-6.There are
not tie breakers in the Australian Open.It was one of
the best matches I have seen.Sharapova at 17 is by far
the best womens tennis player in the world. She may have
lost this one,but she plays like no other. She will
dominate the womens game the way Federer dominates the
mens game. What a joy it is to watch her play.

Sharapova looks like she can become the dominant female player, but Williams dug deep in this one. Maria served for the match in both the second and third sets but couldn't get it done. She didn't choke, it was more Williams refusing to lose crucial points (and three match points). Maria had an edge in play, but the difference turned out to be Williams' experience in big matches. At 17 there should still be plenty of great victories to come for Sharapova.

Yes I agree with post match analysis above. Maria stopped grunting at one point which was alarming. I think Maria will capture Wimbledon again. Grass is her best service. Hewitt played a five set barnstormer and now faces Roddick. If he manages to win that, no easy task, he has safin in the finals who beat Federer I understand.

If Shaparova is the best player in the world why did Williams win.

A dominant champion destroys his or heropposition Shaparova has not played dominantly enough to be called "by far" the best player in the world.

Serena in her Prime WAS by far the best female player in the world.

Are the Williams sisters over thirty? Are their prime years already gone? Wow - flash in the pan. What are their current rankings? Not even roids have propelledSerena to no. 1.

In Womens Tennis players primes last relatively short. By 25 most players are gone.

So because Serena is black she must have used Roids right ??????

.

If the williams Sisters lose its because the are bad players but when they win its because they use Roids yeah right. And you are talking about hypocritical double standards against white athletes ?.

Do you have any REAL proof other then your personal dislike that the Willimans Sisters use Roids ????. Does Capriati also use Roids since she playes the same style of Tennis ? . O wait she is white so its clear that she has never used anything . Where is the proof ? that Serena or Venus use Roids there was one player in trouble over drug allegations but it was not Venus or Serena.

So where is your proof ?????

Good point godking, I do not know of any public accusation of the Williams sisters using steroids. If there are some someone should post them.

The Wlliams sisters are excessively muscular even for black women so there may be suspicion due to that. Venus has lost her edge so even if steroids were involved it hasn't helped her which means there are other things involved.

You are right that it is wrong to make false accusations just because of racial loyalty. However that does not stop the media and fans from disparaging the athletic talents of white athletes merely because they are white. So you should expect that here on this site, that the shoe would be on the other foot.

I find it hard to believe that Serena isNOT on steroids. Have you seen pictures of her? Built like a linebacker. I bet she could benchpress Nadia Petrova over her head. Too unnatural to be roid-free. Venus looks much more natural. Poop really didn't make a false accusation, How was he proven false? I have not seen any steroid test results yet. Even if they did do a steroid test, it is too difficult to detect these hightech steroids these days. I'm sure some are undetectable. Its too bad steroids are so difficult to detect, but my vision is still 20/20 and I see a woman in a rather buff male body. Serena even has large neck muscles and biceps, explain that. You don't use your neck and biceps much in tennis.I don't see any other female or for that matter male tennis playerbuilt like her...with anoverall complete bulky bodybuild. But she does closely resemble U.S. Olympic sprinters and we all know they don't take steroids.

I'msure someday K. Poopwill be proven right, and Serena will join the likes of Flo Jo, Carl Lewis, Ben Johnson just to name a few.

Right on target, Mr. Lutefisk. Why be naive and wait for federal investigations and "evidence"?. Barry Bonds passed all his drug tests. Should we still assume his innocence? Just a year ago many were saying just that. I choose to believe what my eyes and common sense tell me. Reportedly the WTA testing is especially inadequate. Recently Belgian drug testing officials nailed a russian player for use of ephedrine. A stimulant you can buy at Walmart. Big Whoop! The sports world needs to get its priorities strait and target steroids peroid. the pictures above is all the evidence I need. Which one is on steroids? Prove me wrong and show me a picture of any female athlete in the history of sports built like that in pre-steroid days. You go.Edited by: Kaptain Poop

That's a startling picture of Serena. Martina Navratilova was never that ripped, and she became a workout fanatic in addition to having a natural high level of testosterone. Serena has never been known as a workout warrior, in fact she has spent a lot of time the past few years trying to become an actress, model, etc. rather than concentrating on tennis. Also, at the Australian Open she was on the heavy side. I find it hard to believe she could have that kind of defined musculature, the kind a lot of men who work hard at it could never have, without help.
