I thought it was about time we started a new thread for Richard Kilty. He beat Tyrone Edgar in the 60 in a race last weekend running a 6.67! It has been a long year and that was a street race featuring England vs Australia at different distances. Richard has had a great year improving his personal bests to 10.43 and 20.80! He is going to be one to watch. He also has a sponsor. Let's see what he can do in 2010 as he continues to grow into his body. Good luck to Richard. It would be great if he can get to Craig Pickerings level. Maybe they can train together eventually.

I was sad to see Richard Kilty get disqualified today in the 200 at the UK National Champs. He will bounce back. This kid has the ability to be very well known in England in the near future. He is very talented. Good luck to Richard this summer.

Interested to see how kilty progresses this year, you think he will make a better 200 runner?

I'm not sure yet. It's hard to say. He is descent over both the 100 & 200 so I don't think he should pick just one yet. I would have to say that he probably has a better chance of sticking with the 100 in the long run. I hope he progressed similar this year to last. With young sprinters you just never know. He trains as hard as anyone though. I would love to see him get to Pickerings level. Craig has very few fellow sprinters that he gets along with and he would probably become friends with Richard. Kilty is racing today and he will race again on Sunday. Today he will run both the 100 & 200 meters. Good luck to Richard. He has had some minor injury problems nagging him and keeping him from training as hard as he would like. Hopefully they have passed and he can have a big summer.

Richard Kilty beats Mark Lewis Francis in this video, a 100m race won by Craig.........looks like they're mates already

Also wondering if anyone had mentioned young Scot, Nick Smith. Here he is running a PB 60m in mid February

Richard won and equaled his p.b. on a bad track in Belgium. He is off to a good start. He will be on live tv on the BBC Channel this weekend at the Manchester Street Run. Good luck to King Richard.

thats a good feeling when you start the season off equaling your PB. good for him!

I was actually wrong. He was 1/100th of a second slower than his personal best.

Richard Kilty, 20, may have felt a bit unlucky to miss his PB over 100m by a mere hundredth of a second as he set 10.44 secs in windless conditions (0.0m/s) to win at the Internationale Peugeotmeeting at StNicholas in Belgium.

It was still a great opener for the young lad! I have a feeling that 2010 is going to be a huge year for him. He will shatter his personal bests in the 100 & 200 and he is still just barely 20 years of age.

Kilty finished 2nd in the 100 today at the 2010 Manchester Great City Games. It was his 3rd race of the weekend. He ran a respectable 10.46 despite being very tired.

Andy Turner won both the 110 high hudles and the 200 high hurdles in the street races. Andy beat Terrence Trammel among others to win the first race. He looks to be in very good shape for this early in the season.

hey, white lightning,

is Andy related to Laura Turner, the terrific lady sprinter for England?

I'm not sure. I don't think so but I will look into it. I'm glad you mentioned her. I forgot to add that she won the womens 100 meters in the street race! They need to bring semething like this the the US to boost tracks popularity. It would be great to see it in New York or even on the strip in Vegas.

i've always liked her. and 400-phenom Nicola Sanders, as well. any word on her?

and thanks for the updates, man!

Bad news guys. Kilty pulled a hamstring in the Manchester race. I was worried about him racing 3 times in two days this early in the year. Hopefully he can have a speedy recovery. He does have youth on his side.

Well despite a injury plagued 2010, Kilty is looking to return to form in 2011. He will most likely limit or skip his indoor season as alot of the U.K. Squad is doing the same. I have a feeling he will be pushing Pickering and a few others before too long. Richard is only 21 years of age so he has alot of upside still. Good luck to him next summer!

Richard Kilty will run a 400 meter race tommorow in England. He is still sticking with the 100 & 200 but just getting some speed endurance work. I'm anxious to see what he and Showler Davis can do this year. Two of the best young sprinters in the U.K.

running a few 400 in the start of the season is always a good idea. I hope this kids can stay injury free this year.

That's good news. Sports writers are generally so uninterested in track that we rarely know when someone is injured. As far as I knew, Kilty had just disappeared from view.

Along those lines, some of you may remember a French guy about the same age, Martin Lamy. I recall him showing some promise at the 200 indoors last year. Turns out he's been battling Achilles injuries ever since, but he hasn't give up:

Richard Kilty will run for the second time this year on Saturday. He will compete over the 100 meters.

Kilty is back! He just ran a wind legal 20.53 wind legal time in Switzerland! I love it. Hoping he stays healthy because he has big things to come as he is only a kid! Way to go Kilty!

awesome!

Richad "the teaside tornado" Kilty ran a new p.b. of 20.31 with a 0.1 wind today. That is an automatic A Qualifier for the World Championships. Gemeli may not have such an easy win at the UK National Champs next weekend. Great form for Kilty. I hope he can add a few more new personal bests over the 100 and 200 meters very soon!

I want to congratulate Richard Kilty. He won the gold medal to be the 2014 world indoors champion over 60 meters. This kid is headed to a sub 10. He ran 10.10 last year with no wind so it's only a matter of time. Kilty is as explosive as they come. What a performance. Here is the video of his gold medal winning race.
