Cowboys also signed linebacker Matt Stewart, which brings to four the number of white linebackers on team, Carpenter, Thomas, Brooking and Stewart, though that will likely change.

Zach Thomas is an UFA and it doesn't look like the Cowboys have any interest in bringing him back. He may be at the end of his Hall of Fame career. Stewart was out of the league completely last year so he may be a special teams demon if he makes the team. Carpenter and Brookingshould be the primary contendersfor the inside spot Thomas played last year. Much as I like Brooking, I'd like to see Carpenter finally get an opportunity to show what he can do as a starter.

I think you are mistaken Don about Cody I have family members who are darker than him but definitely white. I would like to know where you got your info. I have always considered him white. He certainly looks white in all of his pictures.

Dwid he most certainly looks white to me in all of his pictures. I think this player has been mis caste for some unfounded reason.

Sorry, he's half Mexican. He's one of those guys like Luis Castillo that some people may consider white and others not.

Literally, Cody did grow up Irish. His father Mike is 100 percent Irish and a devout Notre Dame fan. Shaun, with his dark complexion and wavy hair, looks nothing like his father.

"I always said, 'I bet these people think Shaun has some African in him,' " Mike Cody said. "He doesn't. My wife is Mexican, and Shaun looks just like her. My other son, Paul, looks like an Irishman. All my life, I've had to convince people that I'm Shaun's father."

Drew Bennett remains unsigned after being cut by the Rams. Hard to believe. . . well, not really considering his skin handicap. The Titans may be interested. Might work out -- as long as Kerry Collins remains the QB and it isn't Vince Young comically attempting to throw the ball:

"Yesterday, Andrew wrote a great article regarding whether or not the Titans will bring in another wide receiver. In the comments section, a few of you threw out Drew Bennett as a possibility.

"Reuniting with Bennett makes sense on a couple of levels. I agree with Andrew that the Titans will reel in another WR via free agency. However, instead of spending money on the likes of Devery Henderson and Lance Moore, Bennett would probably come with a much cheaper price tag.

"Drew's familiarity with Mike Heimerdinger also makes him an intriguing option. The former undrafted free agent thrived under Dinger's tutelage earlier in his career so maybe a return to his system will once again work wonders for #83.

Clearly Cody has no African features when you really look at his picture. I wonder how many other kids are like Shaun yet are not followed by this site because they are deemed black. While I would rather Cody be all European and not half Mexican Still he is a player who I hope signs with my NFL team, and goes on to a great second half of an nfl career.Edited by: White Power

Yeah Kudla broke the all time bench press record at Ohio St with a 610 lbs lift! He also tied the 225 lbs repetition record at the 2006 NFL Combine. The man was a pure beast in the weight room. Somehow he never managed to get drafted despite all this and being an all Big 10 pick his senior year, hmmmm I wonder why?? He signed a free agent contract with the Steelers, torn his hamstring in training camp, and has never really been heard of since. [/QUOTE]

Here's a site that compiles bits of information from various sources. If you scroll down you'll see a reference to an Akron Beacon Journal article that claims Kudla ran a 4.49 forty following his senior year of high school weighing 35 pounds less than he did around the time of the combine.

My guess is that, had he been allowed, he could have maintained his trim physique while being nearly as strong
as he had become. This would have given him extraordinary explosiveness and the ability to excel at just about any position on the field.

His hair could be from being partially Southern Euro. Many Southern Euro's have wavy/curly hair like that. Aboriginal North Americans tend to have straight coarse hair similar to wild horses. He does look look partially aboriginal to me(not that I care).Edited by: white is right

Also just for your information; here's a little history for you because I recently did some reading on the genealogy of Mexicans:

Many, I would say most, Mexicans actually have black blood going back to the slave trade days from Mexico. The slave trade in Mexico died out about 50 years earlier than in America. The African Mexicans intermarried into the culture first with the Indigenous, although the Spanish tried to prevent this (partly due to the fact that the Indigenous were banned early on from being slaves; so of course their children too would be free), and then with occasionally with Spaniards.

The Indigenous population rebounded in the 1700s from the disease epidemic. With the blacks seeming to escape and elude their masters better in Mexico than in America; the Spaniards basically just started a very cheap labor system, even occasionally share-cropping type methods using the Indigenous as farm laborers.

Many Mexicans have no idea, but they have African blood; even on both sides going back more than 200 years. I have also heard that Sicilians, Portugesse and Spaniards from parts of Spain have some African blood going back to the Moorish conquests. The Moors were known to sometimes be an admixture of Arab, Berber and black African genealogy from what I heard in a history class. So this whole race theory that all Euros are of pure Caucasian stock isn't correct technically. You could say the same for many of the Turkish having Persian blood; It is debatable to consider Persians white; it depends on what your criteria is.

My guess is that Cody has some Indigenous blood with a small admixture of black blood going way back. He actually looks of more black stock than Indigenous to me. However, I would consider him white b/c the caste system would treat him as such and to me he's a white guy who is a part of white culture.

yeah, but I have seen some White mexicans, very few and they tend to be richer, just like I have seen quite a few White Brazilians. Spaniards tend to be darker nowadays as compared to the past. My friends grandmother is Spanish and looks very very White, you could not tell the difference between her and someone of English heritage, light brown hair, but i looked up the different areas of Spain and the different groups, and there were several Whiter groups, so im guessing her ancestors came from one of those parts, but there were some darker groups. The pictures i see of Spanish people now seem to be darker. This guy i used to play in a band with, his mother was part Portuguese and she looked like what you would consider non white hispanic, so i dont know why they tend to be darker. He even looks "Latino" but they claim to be part Sicilian (which a fair amount of light dark hispanics claim), but it could be her "cajun" blood. There are some creoles that claim to be cajun that mixed in with slaves, although history tries to make it seem like all cajuns intermarried with slaves, which is not true, only a few did and they are considered creole, not cajun. I originally thought i was part Cajun but my ancestors came straight from France late 1800's, early 1900's according to my grandmother. But for alot of dark Spaniards and Sicilians, their non Caucasian blood is so far removed that it doesn't matter.

I always had a feeling that dark mexicans were a mixture of spanish/natives/black slaves. But I would consider Cody a White personEdited by: dwid

Although not part of this years FA period, it does appear that Dan Morgan will attempt a comeback (with the Saints) this year after signing last year with the Saints during the FA period.

Dan Morgan was an a beast in college. His NFL career has been a bit of a disappointment so far. Hopefully he can have a few more decent seasons.

Peyton Hillis needs to leave the Broncos. They have obviously chose to go in a different direction. Why did they have to fire Shanahan. We just can't catch a break!

The NY Jets have signed LB and special teams demon Larry Izzo. Izzo is a 3 time pro-bowler.

Brian Young restructed his deal with the Saints, so i guess that means were keeping him! Hes one of the best dt's on our team and gets no respect. We also brought in a White DT and FB from Wisconsin to possibly grab later on, cant remember their names, maybe drafting them or getting them as udfas. That would be nice to have a FB and Heath Evans get some carries.Edited by: dwid

Patriots + Galloway = Welker on sidelines or in the slot! They will relegate him to kick returns, special teams and " third down specialist."

My guess is when they will be a 2-WR set Welker will be on the field with moss, and in 3 WR set he will go back to the slot

I pretty much agree with this. Even in the NFL I couldn't see Welker moved to backup. He'll be on the field as much as possible after making a Pro-Bowl last year. Even the DWFs have woken up to his talent.
