Also worth noting that Andy Robertson finished first in the 200 at the Tiny Lister meet in LA. Robertson is either 20 or 21, I believe.

Here's a video of Joe Fisher (senior in high school) at the Kansas relays.   From the point of view of the camera, it looks like he won, but we have to trust that the officials got it right.  Anyway, it's pretty much a tie:http://www.flotrack.org/coverage/238229-2011-Kansas-Relays/video/486513-B-100-F01-Golden-Stripes-Qualifier

I played around with that link and found this race with Jordan Boase. He starts like a 400 guy and his endurance confirms it..

Videos for your entertainment.

First, Crawford running in the 10.3's:

Second, Cas Loxsom breaking the stadium record on a wet track in the 800:

Third, from the ACC championships, the Irishman O'Lionaird taking the 1500 as part of a championship double. This is the most exciting of the three videos, as Robby Andrews, the 800 specialist who twice beat Wheating as a frosh last year, came back from an injury-filled winter to run the 1500. He's in an orange singlet and makes his run from way back in the pack (and the pack was way back of 0'Lionaird) on a sizzling last lap, suggesting he is returning to form:

i had some free time today, and i was perusing the 2011 NCAA outdoor performance lists. i spottedsomething interesting.

in the 4x100 relay, several familiar names are among the elite teams (and times). LSU's hurdling phenom Nugent was on the team for 2011's #2 time: 38.78. he is also the top 110-hurdler on the year.
Florida State has the #3 time so far this season (38.87) with two White sprinters, Ambler and Byram.
Arkansas has the #8 time (39.57), alsowith two White sprinters, Braddy and Niit.

considering the small number of White sprinters who participate in the sprints, this is a pretty impressive sample i think.

Wow. Those are great videos. Both of these guys deserve high praise.

Also a very nice job Jimmy. It just goes to show that white sprinters can not only compete but excel in the sprints. Imagine if we had an equal playing field. Look how good Boase and Wariner were in college. We need more white female and male sprinters to take up the sport. I would love to see an american Lemaitre Type.

Holy Moly! Get this: Penn State just won the Sprint Medley Relay at the Penn Relays! Now, if you don't realize how exciting that is: There were 27 colleges entered, including mega-powerhouses Florida (with NCAA's top 100 man, Jeff Demps) and allegedly unbeatable Texas A&M.

The Penn State team consisted of Aaron Nadolsky, Brady Gehret, Cas Loxsom, and Australian Ryan Foster. I hope someone will post of a video of it.

More from the Penn Relays. Astonishingly, Shane Crawford (who has never really impressed me) finished with the second highest time out of the 100m heats. A nice achievement, although I think the best runners are in the relays rather than the individual events.

the win and a school record, that's awesome. anyone who has had a chance to go to the Penn Relays knows just how exciting that is.

That looks like a pic from the 1950's. Alot of our track teams around the country that set countless records were all white back then. Way to go Penn State. Helping to break down those stereotypes.

Now if Shane Crawford can win the 100 finals today, I will be a happy fan!

Looks like this will be Van Zyl's best season.

Meanwhile, some good 200m runs -
At the same meet as Van Zyl, Jordan Boase ran 20.60
In Florida Jonathan Borlee ran 20.56
and Marek Niit 20.46 in Arkansas!

One more 200m result of note - at the Oregon Twilight meet yesterday, Hannah Cunliffe came in 2nd with a time of 24.37, beating numerous college girls.
Not bad for a High School Freshman!

This season is really getting off to a great start. Alot of the men and women we follow here are doing very good so far. Victories are what counts. The times will continue to drop as the season progresses. You never want to hit peak form too soon. We are still several months from the World Champs of Track and Field. Happy to see Boase running good again. Borlee and his brother are so talented. Niit is just a blonde bullet. As for Hannah Cunliffe, this is the best news of the bunch. I'm probably her biggest fan and I want her to get to the next level in the coming years. If only I were younger. She is so beautiful. Way to go Hannah!
