The link you provided is not totally clear. It seems like 97% is
white and white mixes with the other 3% made up of non whites
right? Anyway Manu is a great player and an athlete on the level
of Kobe and Wade.

That's the way I read it. Argentina is virtually all white with a tiny population of native Indians and white/native mix. If Manu is one of the very few from that country whose ancestors mixed with the native Indians then he wouldn't be considered white, but I've never read anything to indicate that he is other than of European background. And yes, he is a great athlete and superb basketball player.

But what %of the Argentinian population is 100% white? It
seems the stat indicates that when you add up the 100% whites and
the mestizos they add up to 97% of the population. I could
be wrong. Anyway this is a pretty interesting website you have
going on. It is very thought provoking and I like it.

97% of the people of Argentina are 100% white according to what is posted on that link, which is a CIA site that contains similar types of information about every country in the world. 3% are mestizo or other non-white. Certainly I was surprised to see that high a percentage of whites but that's what it says.At the very least Argentina is an overwhelmingly white country. I'm glad you enjoy Caste Football and welcome to our discussion board.

Argentina is kind of a transplanted European country I suppose like the city of Quebec. Most people there are of Italian and/or Spanish descent. Ginobli is of Italian heritage. Brazil on the other hand is much more racially mixed although there are some Germans and Dutch I believe.

Thanks Don! I was always had some doubt/ curiosity about
Ginobili but never bothered to look it up. That site clearly
states that Argentina is 97% white and 3% mixed or non-white.
Very cool. So Barry probably isn't more white than Ginobili.
Fine with me!

Kaptain Poop:
Starting Brent Barry and Manu at the same time does break
the racial quota.

But they have to play Bruce Bowen, too. Also, Barry is
probably not as effective off the bench as Ginobili is.

No black star of Manu's caliber would put up with riding the
bench at the start of the game.

Another reason why he's better than them. Why should
anybody give a s*** about what a black star thinks about not
starting anyway? Hopefully Mike Fratello "banishing" Bonzi
Wells from the building in game 4 of the Suns/ Grizzlies game
is a sign that things are changing slightly in that regard....

The Mavs do it again.Dirk Nowitzki had 23 points and
13 rebounds in a big victory. They will look to close the
series out in Houston on Wed. Night. The Spurs also won
their 3rd straight game.Duncan had 39 and Ginobli was
a stud as always with 24 points.Ginobli is averaging
24 per game in the series off the bench. We all know he
should be starting but hey, they are winning.Barry is a
good player but I have also been impressed with Udrih
in his minutes he has played.

Kenny Smith on Ginobli: That's how you should play guard in
the NBA.

How about George Karl complaining about Ginobili? Punk. As
if his players weren't trying to draw fouls during the many
periods where they couldn't knock down a shot. Sure Ginobili
draws fouls, but so does everybody who drives to the basket.
And there's plenty of times where Ginobili makes a sensational
score, not just a cheap trip to the foul line.

That game was one of the worst officiated games I've seen in
a while. The icing on the cake was Duncan's sixth foul when
Carmelo slipped on the ground. Geez. And it couldn't have
come at a more appropriate time: right after Stern fined Jeff
Van Gundy 100 grand. What's so wrong with criticizing the
officials? Why is it such a big deal? How do you protect the
"integrity" of the league by silencing critics? You protect the
integrity by fixing things, not by censoring people. I guess
Stern doesn't remember when a ref asked a scorekeeper
about how many fouls Shaq had during a playoff game last
year. Stern should stop being such a pansy. Take the hit and
move on.

I agree with both of you above. As far as tonights game
between the Sonics & the Kings,I really think Brad
Miller got shafted. He was called for 3 fouls in about
1-2 minutes. It changed the whole course of the game with
only under 4 minutes to go & the Kings with a chance to
win.Peja had 38 points but to no avail. It is not a total
loss though. The Sonics can be fun to watch with Luke
Ridnour,Radmanevic, and Collision. The Spurs and the Sonics both have alot of white talent.I will root for the
Spurs though after they finish off the Nuggets. It is
interesting that the Western Conference Playoff Teams
have most of the white talent in the nba.The East teams
are a total black out for the most part.It is just like
in the nba all star game.Go west, equal opportunity!

That was one heavy fine on Van Gundy. Too heavy in my view so I agree. Is it me or is Stern slowly unraveling? Never a big fan of his especially all of the media gushing over him. The game has improved a touch from last year or so but easy to forget the post Jordan sludge ball. Or that stellar 1994 Knicks-Rockets final. Man was that awful.

I agree with you on that sunshine. There is a business
owner who is probably going to pay the fine though.
Van Gundy can afford it though if not.I enjoyed seeing
the Spurs win tonight.Even Barkley commented how
Ginobli is a bad boy and needs to start.Kenny Smith
agreed with him.The Bulls blew a great comeback.Hinrich
had 23 points & 7 assists but to no avail.Hopefully
they can bounce back in game 6 in Chicago.

The Bulls played a strong Game 6 on the road tonight but lost at the end in Washington and were eliminated. But with Heinrichnow established as a star and Nocioni well on the way to being one, there's a team to root for now in the Eastern Conference for the first time in quite a while!

There was a pic of Nocioni in the local paper. It was immediately
after a dunk. He was hanging from the rim , knees up and his feet as
high as the heads of the three opposing players surrouding him.
Awesome pic.

Oh yeah. The three other guys in the pic were black. Can you
imagine the ignominy? Being dunked on by a white guy in the NBA!!
The shame!

I wonder if he and/or his coach over-analyzed his "match ups"
against Houston. Oh, look, they've got all these small guys
guarding you, let's post them up. He didn't really get into
rhythm, and didn't shoot-or make- that many threes. Against
Phoenix he should just play his game and not worry so much
about who's guarding him. He'll probably have another small
guy, Shaun Marion, guarding him, and he's clearly a better
defender than McGrady or Bowen. So Dirk will have more of a
challenge.

Having said that, I'm rooting for the Suns because Nash won
the MVP. I love Dirk, but I can't root against Nash at this point.
Maybe when they play the Spurs, but even then I wouldn't want
Parker to outplay him. Man, it gets too complicated
sometimes!

Ginobli had another big game tonight. He had 28 points
in only 31 minutes. The Spurs are up 2-0 and have a good
chance of sweeping the Sonics.Nowitzki & the Mavs will
try to even up the series with the Suns on Wed.Nash
might have something to say about that though!

Dirk wins the game over the Suns with a last second
shot.He had 23 points tonight to lead the Mavs to a
hard fought 2 point victory and a tied series at 1-1.

What better way to wind down the weekend than to watch
a double header with the only teams left worth watching.
I am all about the Western Conference.I think Dallas will
pull the upset today & the Spurs will bounce back.Look
for Ginobli to totally take over the game today.I do have
to give credit to Jeff Foster of the Pacers. He is
rebounding like a mad man and helping to keep the Pacers
in that series along with Miller.

Don't you just love how TNT surrounds Ernie Johnson in the studio with three black sidekicks? This samekind of almost hilarious affirmative actionis becoming more and more common also with football broadcasts. The "logic" at work here is that because blacks are (an artificially created) large majorityin football and basketball, they are qualified to fill 60 or 70 percent of broadcasting slots for those two sports.

I agree Don.At least Kenny Smith has some common sense.
I think the show is more about getting laughs than
talking about basketball though. That game tonight was
incredible.Steve Nash with 48 points. He has so much
energy but it was the Mavs behind Dirks 25 points that
pulled it out.I must say,I was dissapointed that the
Spurs lost today. Two great series though!Luke Ridnour
gets better with every game.Rememeber he is only a kid
and he plays with so much confidence. He had 20 points
today along with a ton of assists. What a series.

One last thought, the Spurs need to start Ginobli again.
They need more scoring early in games.I think his
coming off the bench is a big mistake. He needs to be
playing 35-40 minutes.

It's a joke that Manu isn't "starting." Ridiculous

Nash played a great game. Three of the Western Conference teams have a big-time white stars, with Dirk and Steve the clear-cut main men, hopefully Ridnour will get there too, maybe Collison with him.
