ATHLETICS AUSTRALIA Obituary:
"David Baxter (27 Mar 77 â€" 2 Jul 10) passed away in Sweden after a long battle with cancer. David represented Australia at the 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games where he won bronze as a member of Australia’s 4x100m relay team. He was a member of the Australian sprint relay team at the 1999 World Championships but did not run. He was 4th in his heat of the 60m at the 1999 World Indoor Championships in 6.72. David also competed in two Universiades. In 1997 he was a member of the sprint relay team that ran 40.15 in the heats and in 2001 he was a semi-finalist in the 100m in 10.51 and 5th in the 4x100m relay in 39.50. He was a quarter finalist in the 100m and semi finalist in the 200m at the 1996 World Junior Championships. David cut his athletic career short to concentrate on his career as a medical doctor. His personal bests were 10.30 and 20.57 both in 2000."
David was one of Matt's mates, a really gifted sprinter who, like many white athletes, did athletics before really concentrating on his studies to be a medical doctor. At 33 he's succumbed to cancer.
