Aaron Kampman has had 2 sacks already in the first half!
on top of that they praised A.J. Hawk a lot, saying that he is as fast as any linebacker in the league, flying out there and compared him to Urlacher.

Hawk has improved greatly this year yet still doesn't get the respect I believe he deserves for such a great rookie season. His is an afterthought to guys like Demeco Ryans, etc. but he is having a fine rookie campaign and I still believe he'll be the best from this class in the long run defensively.

this is the kind of night rookie Vikings QB had (completed 5 out of 10 for 50 yards and threw 1 interception) although to be honest he had no help from his receivers whatsoever... somewhere Mike Hass is laughing...

Early in the second half, Mike Furrey has 6/65 and a 20 yard TD catch! If my cipherin' is correct, he now has 942 yards with about a game and a half to play.

Way to go Mike! Man I hope he gets 1,000. If he can get it, I guess I can live without having a white TE get 1,000 for another year.

David Thomas TE NE should be added to the master list. He is having a great game so far. 5 rec 86 yds and a TD. Mike Wright is DT for NE and has filled in well playing for the injured Vince Wilfork.

New record for dropped passes in a game, according to the announcers. Sixteen dropped balls between the Saints and Giants! How much do these guys get paid, again?

Did anyone watch the Atlanta - Carolina game? I was checking the stat line, and the game must have been a real doozy:

Weinke 4/7 32 yds, 1 TD 0 INT
Vick 9/20 102 yds, 0 TD 2 INT

The Panther's running backs carried the ball FORTY-NINE times (!) between them, for 184 yards rushing, 0 TDs.

Vick of course gained a few yards rushing (32), becoming the first quarterback to rush for more than 1,000 yards in a season. It is a front-page news item on NFL.com. But the Falcons lost 10-3. The article reported that Vick 'showed no sign of the groin injury that forced him out of the loss to the Cowboys late in the fourth quarter last week.'

No kidding, huh?

In other news, Peyton Manning passed for over 4,000 yards again, for a record SEVENTH season.

Indy's run "defense" again was ajoke, even for the NFL. The great Ron Dayne had a career game for Houston, running for 153 yards and 2 TDs. Dayne is in his 8th NFL season and took this long to finally look like a real running back, but again consider who it was against. Dayne is the premier example of a black running back given opportunity after opportunity to prove himself, whilenot a single white running back is allowedto be as much as a backup in the same league. No, there's no racism against whites in the NFL.

Dayne will probably parlay this game into a nice, fat contract on some other team next year. As a starter.

Carson Palmer just threw a perfect pass to a wide open Chris Henry (he of the 4 arrests during the offseason) in the end zone. Henry dropped it. According to Phil Simms
smiley30.gif
, Henry dropped the ball because he was "caught by surprise."

Mike Furrey had 10 catches for 107 yards and 1 TD. He now has 984 yards for the year. Way to go Mike!

In stark contrast Mike Williams had 5 drops today for the Lions including a last second drop in the endzone which would have given the Lions the victory.

what a great Christmas present! Furrey has a great game, and Alstott finally got to touch the ball.

Merry Christmas everybody from little ol' backwoods Arkansas!

Furrey's good season has his Detroit critics softening, the current feeling of an in-depth analysis by the Detroit news and Free Press is that his impressive season is a sign that he should be "a good 3rd or 4th receiver" in other words a guy with nearly 1000 yds as the 2nd option on a 2 win team is merely 3rd or 4th receiver material. It just never ends in the caste system NFL.

Remember a "4th" reciever is a guy that never plays unless of injury. So the feeling is basically that Furrey has earned nothing and should be benched.

I'm glad Furrey had a great day. Maybe he can have another 100 yard game next week to end the season.

Some other stats-
Mike Alstott had 22 carries for 56 yards
Matt Jones had 4 catches for 69 yards and a TD
Chris Cooley had 7 catches for 77 yards and a TD
Heath Evans had 1 carry for no gain and a 1 yard catch
Kevin Curtis had an 18 yard grab and a 7 yard run
Joe Jurevicius had 4 catches for 58 yards

And Merry Christmas from a native of that Philadelphia suburb, Chester, PA (I was born there back when it actually had a majority of whites - 45 years ago
