This guy did a lot for football by creating the "I" formation at Virginia Military Institute in 1950. He also created the typewriter style huddle, where players stand in 2 rows instead of a circle. Notre Dame coach Frank Leahy visited VMI and took the I back to the Irish in 1951, where it became famous. Guess what the "I" stands for Indian, as in "Indian file."
