Rytis Sakalauskas is a sprinter from Lithuania. He is only 22 and just won an indoor meet today in Russia in a new p.b. of 6.71! This is a new Lithuanian National Record. Congrats to this fine young sprinter. I see alot of upside to go. He is barely getting his feet wet. I can see him running in the 6.60's range in the 60 and hopefully getting his 100 meter times down into the 10.20's range. This would be a great start. I just wanted to start a thread on him. We will keep an eye on him over the coming years. He is built very good for sprinting. Good luck to him both indoors and outdoors as well. Here is a photo.

Good find Lightning! I really think it's a numbers game that will eventually lead to a white breaking through to the elite ranks of sprinting and every time I hear of an up-and-comer it gets me excited.

Rytis sets another national record. This guy is incredible and just may go sub 10 in the next few years. He continues to get better and he just won the silver medal in a photo finish at the university games. Rytis Sakalauskas ran a new p.b. of 10.14 wind legal! Woohoo!!

The race was so close. I thought Rytis won it and he had a slight lead for part of the race. He is growing by leaps and bounds. I also am happy for Arajs finishing 4th in a nice time of 10.29! Too bad he missed out on the bronze by 2/100ths of a second.

Rytis Sakaluskas has moved into the top 3 white sprinters over 100 meters after Lemaitre and Guliyev in my opinion. Pickering and Kuc would round out my top 5 in the world. Way to go Rytis! I hope he can p.b. again at the worlds!

that was a great race.

It's great to see two sprinters in adjoining lanes fight it out the whole distance.
Reminded me of Ron Brown and Stefano Tilli in lanes 1 and 2 of the 2nd round heats in LA 1984

I haven't seen that race mastermulti but I will be sure to search for it. What an exctiting race and both sprinters held their form very well.

A few more things to keep in mind about Rytis Sakalauskas going into the future. He ran another p.b. while running his 2nd race of the day. Rytis also did this with no help and running in a distant country. The wind was -0.2 so he did it under his own power and proved he can handle the pressure of a little bit bigger meet. I'm very impressed with him. Like Lemaitre, he is slight of build and he has a baby face. The guy is 23 and hopefully he is starting to make his name known. Confidence is everything as we see with Pickering. It's very hard to get it back once you lose it. I really want to see Rytis go sub 10.10 before the summer is over. With a positive wind, he would have already done it.

Time for jacknyc to update his top ten list. Man, I can't wait for the world championships in a few weeks!
