I would love to see this happen more often. Ryann Krais, high School junior from Pennsylvania, wins 400 meter hurdles in U.S. #1 time, defeating top Jamaican runners. (Only white in finals wins, just like Wariner in 400m. in 2004 Olympics and Kenteris in 200m. in 2000 Olympics)

Enjoyed the post about Egle Staisiunaite or Illinois who won both 100m. and 300m. hurdles in high school state championship meet with times of 13.72 (wind-aided) and 41.67.

Here is information about Ryann Krais and her wins at Pennsylvania high school state meet:
<LI ="3">Multi queen and Methacton jr Ryann Krais leads team to AAA runner-up spot with breath-taking quadruple: 13.73 (+1.7w) 100H / 42.04 300H (41.84 qual.) / 18-07.75 LJ / 3rd place 4x4 leg
I'm glad thatEgle and Ryann have not yet learned that they are SUPPOSED to lose to the black girls. They must not watch ESPN.</LI>Edited by: highschoolcoach

I would love to see the two of them go head-to-head in one of the prep all-star meets, and leave all the other girls dumbfounded, trailing in their wake.

Yes, so would I. I see that a California prep girl has run 41.2, but in a head-to-head match anything can happen. In this year's Ohio high school state championships, my daughter's high school teammate decisively beat a girl who had beaten her by .3 in the district meet. On any given day . . .

"Only" 2nd in 57.26. She is a junior, winner was a senior. Wait until next year. I predict an improvement of 1-2 seconds. I wonder what is the best college for this very talented girl. As with the concern for talented white football running backs, I don't want her to go to some school where she will disappear.

"Krais was probably as happy a runner-up as would be found all weekend. She knew that even though she had the top 2007 time that it was a close competitive field. "quote" That she did, crushing her old PR by 1.57. "I decided I didn't care how anyone else ran," she said. "I just wanted to break 58. I'm not upset at all."

I hope she goes to a school that is fairly white, because I am afraid she will fall to the wayside elsewhere.
There was a very good HS girl sprinter, who went to one of the Florida schools a few years ago, and I believe she dropped out. Same thing happened to HS girl sprinter from NY. She was a top sprinter here in NY, and then dropped out of her college track team after one year.

Good luck to Krais. She is very talented and I would love to see her make a major impace at the college level. She may end up being better than Jenny Adams.

Do you guys remember a sprinter by the name of Christie Winkle out of ASU?She was pretty good a few years back and I met her once.Very talented and easy on the eyes as well. It's too bad she battled some injuries and never hit her full potential in college. She was very good in high school.

Hell, I didn't even know she could do all those other events. Congratulations to her.

Heptathlon results for Ryann Krais:

Ryann Krais& nbsp; 13.82 1.66m 9.91m 24.47 5.55m 32.66m 2:16.96
unattached&n bsp; w: 0.2 5-05.25 32-06.25 w: 2.0 w: 3.0 107-02
Team Points: 8 5377 (1004) (806) (524) (936) 3270 (715) (527)

13.82 100m. hurdles (especially) and 24.47 200m. would be top-3 in most state championships.

Really a tremendous athlete. I wonder what will be the best university for her. It seems that all of them can accept the idea of a white multi-eventer, so she will probably be treated fairly anywhere. Michigan seems to be a really good program.

I don't really follow track much, so forgive me if this is old news to everyone (can't be that old, only happened 10 days ago).
Ryann won the Pentathlon at the 2008 Nike Indoor Nationals and set a new meet record of 3823, just missing the U.S. record of 3924 (So the article says. I have no idea how close that is.).
