This concerns high-school ball directly, but effects
the NFL tremendously. SI has in its recent issue implied that all
football players are prototypically black. They listed their
high-school all-american team and above the list is a computer
generated image of an offense. Each player has a name next to
them. Every player is pictured a BLACK in the image.

However, there are many whites on the team such as
one of my favorite high-school athletes, Barry Gallup Jr.

What does this show to you? To me, it shows SI
views football players as ideally black and wants an all-black NFL.

No doubt about it, IceSpeed. There has been a concerted effort on the part of those in the media for 25+ years to make the white athlete extinct, and you will see this type of thing more and more if the Caste System is not stopped.

Icespeed, are the images like photos of black men, or are they silhouettes, without facial features? Black silhouettes are often used in lieu of photos if none are available, which would make sense in the case of a completely computer generated football team.

They're very tiny, computer generated images, less than an inch in total height.

The uniforms cover everything but the arms and face. There are no facial features visible, and they all have identical dark skin color, including the kicker. It's a generic type black representation of a football team.

Used to be all those generic images were of whites, until the last 5 years or so all the players were white on most football video games. Ex. NCAA football 1998, and Madden 95.

Don, it would not be such a big deal if the image
was supposed to depict a standard, recreational football team.
However, the image represents SI's picks for the top high-school
players. By showing the team as black, it dismisses the fact that
a lot of the excellent athletes are white. It plants a false
image in people's minds that top football players are always
black.

NFL Blitz 1999 showed all the players as black(even
the cheerleaders). The rough nature of Blitz suggested that
blacks were the toughest players. However, this was not as big a
deal because the game was just meant to be a joke. It also showed
white athletes to be just as athletic as the black ones. Drew
Bledsoe could outrun cornerbacks in the game(it was awesome).
Since all the players were equal, and the game was just portraying a
black majority league it was fine.

This is very different. The representation
should not be of a generic team since it is a specific group of
players.

Did you guys know that the opposing team in the film
Hoosiers was portrayed as predominantly black. In reality, the
team was largely white despite being in a heavily black area.
Oscar Robertson was the teams best player though. I do not think
this was outrageous though because it showed that whites could be as
good as blacks(and it hinted towards Larry Bird's Celtics and their
success).

However, things like this can enforce stereotypes
and discourage non-blacks from playing certain sports.

Actually, Muncie Central, the team Milan beat for the 54' overall title, had 3 blacks on the roster.

IceSpeed; The team Oscar Robinson played for was Crispus Attucks High, a large, segregated, all black school in Indianapolis. Milan beat Crispus Attucks in the quarterfinals of their 54 run to the title. Then they beat Muncie Central, who played one or two blacks, for the Championship.

In 1955, Crispus Attucks and Robinson would become the first all black state basketball champs.

I'mwasn't disagreeing with you, IceSpeed. I noticed it too when I was reading Sports Illustrated. I was responding to White Shogun's request for more information about the black images.

When I saw the actual game on ESPN Classic, there were two black players on the floor at any given time (the parts that I saw,) and the legendary game-winning shot was taken over a black defender.

JD, I saw that game too, and your right. I couldn't remember if Muncie Central, who had 3 blacks on their roster, started 1 or 2; but I do remember the Milan player making the shot over a black boy. It was a very defensive game. If I'm correct, Milan scored just 39 points in winning that game.
