Israeli PM Netanyahu & President Obama to Headline Jewish Federation Assembly
President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are scheduled to address the 2009 General Assembly (GA) of The Jewish Federations of North America in Washington , D.C. next week. During the three-day event, Obama is expected to focus on the Middle East as well as domestic policies in his speech scheduled for Nov. 10. It will be his first major talk before a Jewish organization since taking office Jan. 20; Netanyahu will speak Nov. 8.
Thousands of Jewish leaders gather annually at the GA, held in a different city each year, to engage on a variety of issues affecting their communities. The Federation movement raises and disburses more than $3 billion annually to charitable causes, making it one of the top 10 philanthropic groups in North America .
