Nathan is a proto-typical boxer: tall and skinny. He looks too light to be a light heavyweight and perhaps should be a super middleweight. He has no power at all as his record shows him at 14-0 with 1 ko. The kos are supposed to be easier to get when a fighter is starting his career against weak competition. From here on in the competition is going to get tougher for him and if fighters have no fear of his power he is in for it. But he is really young and his body is developing so maybe he will get stronger and back up his punches more with his body.

Cleverly's won his last two by knockout, so now he has 5 KOs.

He's been fighting fairly decent opposition for someone so young with so few fights, that's why BoxRec already has him rated in the top 20 at 175.

After going 13-0 with only 3 KOs, Cleverly has now stopped his last three opponents in the early rounds. Today, his opponent's corner threw in the towel. It seems his power is increasing, or perhaps just his ability to sit on his punches so they do more damage.

Perhaps he'll be fighting for a world title within a year or so.

Another impressive, dominant performance by Cleverly today, as he knocked Danny McIntosh down three times and won by 7th round TKO.

Good fighter, but still very young and has room for improvement. He punched himself out a little bit, and had to get some rest in the clinches. Normally, a 6'3" fighter shouldn't have to fight on the inside like that. If he paces himself better and fights tall, he's on his way.

How exciting, another potentially great British boxer in the making. It's even better by the fact he's white!

He seems quite unpolished and inexperienced at the moment. But if he continues to strive hard to get better, gain more experience, improve his pacing, and learn to use his height and reach to his fullest advantage, he will surely get there.

Nathan Cleverly defeated his black opponent Courtney Fry today by 8th round TKO.

From fightnews.com:

The new Welsh pride Nathan Cleverly (18-0, 8 KOs) wasn't impressive all the way but got the job done against former amateur star Courtney Fry (13-3, 5 KOs), stopping him at 2:51 of the eighth to retain both his British and Commonwealth light heavyweight titles. WBO #5, IBF #8, WBC #11 and WBA #15 Cleverly started the fight in his usual mode, targeting Fry's body with his left hook and adding right hand on occasion, while also peppering his foe with a jab. However, it was right uppercut, which won the fight for the Cardiff native. He hadn't discovered this up to the midst of the fight and gave Fry some spotlight in the fifth, when he ate a variety of different shots from his rival. It was when Cleverly sensed he had to get back to some basics and he did that indeed. Rounds six and seven were rather tedious, but in the eighth stanza the Welshman finally started to deliver some bombs. At the end of the round, he increased his punch output and continuously rocked Fry several times, the last one with right uppercut and the subsequent right hand, forcing referee Victor Loughlin to stop the fight and"¦ to fell down on canvas with him. A nice win for rising prospect and Cardiff University student Nathan Cleverly.

Cleverly scores his 6th KO in a row. He is 19-0 with 9 KOs but his earlier 4 round fights all went the distance. He has really been setting down on his punches and is a future champ - hopefully he gets a shot this year against one of the Great Black Nopes at 175.

On Saturday, Nathan Cleverly will have the opportunity to establish himself as a top light heavyweight contender.

Both he and the Iraqi Karo Murat are undefeated up-and-comers.

In a final WBO light heavyweight eliminator, Nathan Cleverly (20-0, 10 KOs) won by controversial tenth round TKO against Karo Murat (22-1, 13 KOs). Cleverly had the upper hand in a grueling slugfest when referee Mark Nelson surprisingly stopped the contest at the start of round ten. Cleverly is now mandatory challenger for WBO champion Jürgen Brähmer.

In a clash for the vacant WBO interim light heavyweight championship, unbeaten Nathan Cleverly (21-0, 10 KOs) won a lackluster twelve round unanimous decison over late sub Nadjib Mohammedi (23-2, 12 KOs) on Saturday night at the Liverpool Echo Arena in Liverpool, England. Cleverly pressed the action early. Mohammadi picked up the pace in rounds six and seven. Cleverly was deducted a point in round seven for holding and got the "You're blowing it son,"Â￾ lecture from trainer Dean Powell in his corner after the round. Close rounds after that. Scores were 115-112, 116-111, 115-113.

Cleverly is scheduled to take on the winner of Brahmer-vs-Shumenov.

On Saturday, May 21 Nathan Cleverly will fight Jürgen Brähmer for the WBO light heavyweight title.

This will be a very difficult fight for Nathan. Brähmer is an experienced, strong, durable fighter.

I don't like Brähmer, because he behaves like a negro. He's repeatedly been charged for beating up women and other criminal activity going back to the late 1990s.

Nathan Cleverly in contrast seems like an intelligent, decent guy who deserves the best.
