The Spaniard has shot 129-132 FT's so far this season. That's a 0.977 shooting accuracy. The "old" record is 0.958 set in the 1980-81 NBA season by Calvin Murphy. The old black guy is "not happy" about his record being taken away by some white foreigner.

Just a little more Calderon, the Spaniard already owns the 2nd longest FT streak in NBA history: 87 straight!

Simply amazing. Steve Nash of the Suns also has a chance to become the career all time free throw percentge leader.

Calderon is a star. He has amazing hand/eye coordination. I would love to be able to just shoot 80% from the charity stripe. I've always been around a 70% shooter from the free throw line when I played. Off course it wasn't my chosen sport.

What Calderon is doing is incredible. I have watched many players who can shoot and he is by far the best. Congrats to Jose and let's hope he can finish the season strong. Ten games to go till the record!

Calvin Murphy, good enough to be the janitor at HOF. What a disgrace it was for him to be even elected.

Toronto gets a rare win, 115-106 over Milwaukee. Calderon is now 131-134 at the line, a 0.978 accuracy.

Blake Ahearn, if he were playing in the NBA, might have a shot at the FT% record too. The guy is the best ever in NCAA history, his numbers are very apparent in the rubbish D-League. Why not in the NBA then?

The shame of it all.Edited by: j41181

Steve Nash does have a crack at the All-time career FT% record. The record is held by Mark Price at 0.906, Nash is at 0.900 for now, but he's on a freaking roll. Edited by: j41181

Best game of the season for Jose Calderon:

22 points (8-11 FG's, 2-3 3pt's, 4-4 FT's
smiley32.gif
)
1 rebound
19 assists (career high)
smiley32.gif
smiley32.gif

3 steals

This guy is the next Steve Nash. He lead Toronto to an epic 134-129 victory over Chicago in OT! His record FT pace, continues. He will break loud mouth Murphy's record, and he'll shut him up for good!

hopefully Ricky Rubio will be as good (or better than) Jose Calderon. hopefully he comes out this year. I would like to see him in the pros. it looks like Rubio is very entertaining to watch...

I'm looking forward to Ricky's venture to the NBA. Hopefully he could provide the NBA some real vanilla flavor.

Calderon has gone 4-4 at the line today to better his FT totals to 149-152. That's a 98% success rate, to go with:

11 points (3-5 FG's, 1-2 3pt's, 4-4 FT's)
2 rebounds
11 assists
1 steal

With just 2 games left, the record belongs to him, period.

It's too bad the Raptors didn't make the playoffs this year over the coal black 76ers or nearly all black Detroit or Miami. They are playing their best basketball at season's end though, so it looks fairly promising for next year. Congratulations to Jose on his FT extravaganza!

His shooting is unimaginable. He is as close to perfect from the stripe as anyone that has ever played the game. Numero Uno by a landslide. It's amazing too because point guards have the ball all the time and they get tired as the game goes along. He never let's it effect him. Congrats to the best shooter that I have ever seen!

It's over!!!! The Spaniard owns the NBA record which will NEVER be broken!!!

Toronto finishes it's season with a win 109-98 over Chicago. Thanks a lot, Jose! He actually has not missed a FT since and could start another streak come next season. And because of this phenomenal season, Calderon, career wise could become the best FT shooter ever.

I agree 98.1% will never be broken. Calvin Murphy's 95.8% stood for 28 years, and Calderon shattered it. He was barely above the minimum 125 attempts to qualify for the record, which was to his advantage.

The Raptors just signed Hedo Turkoglu to a 5 year contract. They will now start 3 white guys in their starting five! With Calderon at point guard, Turkoglu at power forward and Bargnani at center. This is going to be a very fun team to watch and they should win alot of games. I wonder how the media will react with a majority white starting lineup.Edited by: white lightning

Good news, too bad they are all foreign.. congrats to Hedo! THis took me by surprise because i thought he was pretty close to signing w\Portland. I also heard something about him not liking ot play in cold weather cities? Either way it looks like he will be the man in Toronto and will be counted on to hit the big shots!

Hedo got paid big. dunno if he will make them a serious contender or what but he can definitely "feed his family" now.

He chose Toronto because it is more cosmopolitan and because his wife likes it.

but i think the team to root for this year is the Indiana Pacers.

if i am not mistaken the Pacers have Hansbrough (who has the potential to be a real beast -- a very good power forward who can win you games and not just put up stats, which is in fact very rare in the NBA), Troy Murphy (a good rebounder and a double double guy) plus Mike Dunleavy who is very talented and Travis Deiner who is a good player in their rotation at point guard. The Pacers may be the team to root for this year and they should also make a run at the playoffs. lots of young talent on the team.

oh, is Jeff Foster still on the Pacers? he is not afraid to mix it up.
