If only Air Force had defeated Tennessee.....

White Shogun.... You bascially just restated what my reasoning for starting Young just in a less diplomatic fashion. Granted I left out the possibility/reality that the Titians may have seen Voleck as a distraction towards their ultimate goal of playing the most popular quarterback.

OC,
I apologize if I came across rudely. I saw the difference as more of the which came first, the chicken or the egg? argument. I feel the Titans ditched Volek so there would be no controversy when they wanted to start Young. I think they knew Volek would have played too well to justify benching him once the season got rolling, so he had to be traded.

Is it:
A) They traded Volek because they had the intention of starting Young; or,

B) They traded Volek without the intention of starting Young this season; Young is starting now only because Volek's replacement, Kerry Collins, didn't perform well enough to keep the job and mentor Young.

I saw Option B in your explanation.

I see the situation as explained in Option A.
