Spurs coach Popovich had Manu Ginobili coming off the bench after his injury, still giving him plenty of playing time, but starting Finley over him, even though Ginobili averages 5 points a game more, playing less minutes, and does more other things as well. Last night Ginobili started and played a key role, scoring 20 getting several assists, in a low scoring Spurs win. This is important as the Spurs are a high visibility team, and now with two white starters, are one white starter away from looking like one of the better European league teams. I haven't watched their games, but the distribution of scoring seems to show that they are an unselfish team, and two of the key black starters, Duncan and Parker, did not learn their basketball in the US (actually not sure about Duncan, but know that he was born in the Virgin Islands), so its intresting to see how a non-traditional team (read non-caste) does so well in the NBA.
