Maurice Clemmons, the 37-year-old Tacoma man being sought for questioning in the killing this morning of four Lakewood police officers, has a long criminal record punctuated by violence, erratic behavior and concerns about his mental health.

Nine years ago, then-Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee granted clemency to Clemmons, commuting his lengthy prison sentence over the protests of prosecutors.

"This is the day I've been dreading for a long time," Larry Jegley, prosecuting attorney for Arkansas' Pulaski County said tonight when informed that Clemmons was being sought for questioning in connection with the killings.

Clemmons' criminal history includes at least five felony convictions in Arkansas and at least eight felony charges in Washington. The record also stands out for the number of times he has been released from custody despite questions about the danger he posed.

Clemmons had been in jail in Pierce County for the past several months on a pending charge of second-degree rape of a child. He was released from custody just six days ago, even though was staring at seven additional felony charges in Washington state. (snip)

It seems that black men have declared war on the police force in WA state. After today's horrific tragedy, this is now 5 white officers, all family men (and one woman), who have been assassinated by 2 black men.

WA state is sowing what it reaps. I wonder what it will take for its people to wake up. They have a liberal governor, liberal state house/senate, liberal judges, other liberal state/county executives across the board, a mostly liberal congressional delegation, well you get the picture. And the stupid sheeple of this state still keep voting liberal.

Foobar 75 your right. I think a month ago two other copper were attacked while in their police vehicle. The suspects assualted them from the side as to not be captured on their video camera.

On a side note: Instances like these and the current federal government and Democratic rule is causing a ground swell and people are waking up and will demand an end to this and other socialistic/enabling policies. I sense it everywhere. I will pray for the survivors of these police officers.

It took the form of a riot, that he kept the police from stopping that left a Jew dead and many more beaten (I know that won't upset a lot of you). Huckabee is the new Dukakis!

The most controversial criticism against Dukakis involved his support for a prison furlough program. During his first term as Governor, he had vetoed a bill that would have stopped furloughs for first-degree murderers.[12] During his second term, that program resulted in the release of convicted murderer William "Willie" Horton[13], who committed a rape and assault in Maryland after being furloughed. Al Gore was the first candidate to publicly raise the furlough issue and asked about "weekend passes for convicted criminals" in a debate held in New York prior to the Democratic primary in that state, although Gore never mentioned Horton by name or that he had broken into a house, raped a woman, and beaten her husband.

George H. W. Bush mentioned Horton by name in a speech in June 1988, and his campaign brought up the Horton case. A conservative political action committee affiliated with the Bush campaign, the National Security Political Action Committee, aired an ad entitled "Weekend Passes", which used a mug shot image of Horton. The Bush campaign refused to repudiate it. That ad campaign was followed by a separate Bush campaign ad, "Revolving Door", criticizing Dukakis over the furlough program without mentioning Horton. The legislature canceled the program during Dukakis's last term.

I've seen this before, police sitting glued to computers in public places. I've always thought they were sitting ducks for a bum like this black guy. Interestingly, another Cop got murdered out there recently sitting in a patrol car. Time for a little awareness I think.

Yeah but if they do that, they will have to pay several million to his family so they can become ghetto fabulous. I say just capture the guy and execute him. Fortunately Washington State does have the death penalty, so this guy will easily get it.

As far as Huckabee goes, he just dug his own grave on this one. I wonder what he will say to the families of the murdered? Will he still argue it was the right move at the time to release him for no apparent reason?

Guys remember that movie "The Time Machine" the orginal one. Remember all the whites that lived in the future where scared of the "sand people" and did their best to avoid them from being captured. Once they were captured, they gave up and they were eaten. It took the white male lead in the story to teach them to fight back. Whites today are alot like the fictional whites in this movie. Just scared, hopefully incidents like this will instill courage in the streets and in the court systems of the land.

Regarding Huckabee, he said he released him due to recommendation and the fact that this animal committed crimes in Arkansas when he was a juvinile. Mike was trying to cut him a break on 60 yr sentence. Yeah, he will have to live with that decision. But for Washington to release him after committing 8 additional felonies is beyond the pale.

As we noted this morning, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee came under fire during his presidential run for his commutation of the sentence of Wayne Dumond, who was found guilty of rape and murder in Missouri after being released from prison in Arkansas.

In light of the news that Huckabee commuted the 95-year sentence of the suspect in yesterday's slaying of four Washington state police officers, we dusted off our 2008 campaign research books to take another look at the numbers.

On his radio show today, Huckabee again addressed the slayings, placing blame both with his own state's system and the government of Washington.

"Should he be found to be responsible for this horrible tragedy, it will be a series of failures in the criminal justice system in both Arkansas and Washington state,"Â￾ he said of Clemmons.

Huckabee blames the Arkansas parole board for granting Clemmons' parole -- something he did in the case of Dumond as well. Parole board members, however, told NBC News in 2007 that Huckabee initiated and encouraged Dumond's parole.

Dumond's case also highlighted the relative frequency of Huckabee's pardons and commutations in comparison to his predecessors, which the Arkansas governor's GOP opponents were happy to reference during the primary in an effort to slam Huckabee for being soft on crime.

Bill Clinton, who served as governor of the state between 1979 and 1992, issued a total of 426 pardons and commutations, the Arkansas Leader pointed out in the middle of Huckabee's tenure in 2004.

Republican Frank White and Democrat Jim Guy Tucker issued 39 and 42, respectively. By the end of his 10-and-a-half years as governor, Huckabee had issued 1,033.

As of 2004, Huckabee had issued more pardons than the leaders of six neighboring states combined -- Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Missouri -- in the preceding eight years.

I believe these numerous pardons has sunk Mike's ship of presidential aspirations even before getting out of port. The reason for these comuntations was to gain favor with blacks and weak knee white liberals.

The latest on this story is that this animal is moving throughout the Western Washington area from one relative's home another one, as they are helping him avoid capture. The SWAT teams have surrounded several relatives' homes over the last 24hrs, but they seem to be just a few minutes late, as they have been unable to capture him. These vermin relatives are equally responsible now.

I would turn him in myself. You don't walk into a coffee shop and kill four cops and simply disappear, more times than not they will find you.
