The very first meet of the season and Sally runs 12.81 legal for 100h and
11.26 (+3) for the 100. Great early season form. I trust she's stronger this
year.
The men's 100 featured a 10.29 by Adam Miller and 10.41 by John Woods
(+1.1).

These guys will be some months off peaking yet so that's a great start for
them

Sorry guys, I don't seem to be able to get the hyperlink to function so
you'll have to copy and paste

BTW, the 2nd p[lacegetter in the mens shot (Stuart Gyngell) is just about
to turn 45. I had the pleasure of being a member of his state title winning
"4 x shot relay" team last season. He's 140 kgs (310lbs) and eats like a

Great results sby Sally and Adam. I have been hoping for a few years now that Adam Miller can take it to another level. He is not built like your typical sprinter but boy is this kid sure talented. A sub 10.30 time for his first race of the season is outstanding.

It will be interesting to see how things progress down under. I'm really waiting for a Shirvo siting. I want to see him and Ross battling it out.

I just hope that these guys save some for this summer. That is what they train their whole lives for and both the Aussies and South Africans have such a long season.

Shirvo was there last night WL.
He had a DQ in the 2x100 heats but I think he's healthy and looking
forward to a new season.

His uncle (a mate I compete against) did mention to me how settled he is
just a few months back. We agreed he may not have the hunger to be as
good as he was...he's a nice person and very contented with life at this
time.
I guess there's little incentive to knock himself out for a sub10 that may
never come his way when he can train moderately hard just to stay fit and
still do 10.30s.

BTW, another young guy named Henry Mitchell (21 I think) last night went
from a 21.25 runner to a 20.79 over one season, pipping Batman in the

With his legal PRs of 10.19/100, 20.44/200 and 45.02/400 Daniel is still
our best ever sprinter on a points basis allocated for each event.

I don't think those short muscular legs have much more speed left in
them though judging by his 10.19 PBEdited by: mastermulti

"the men's 100m field contains the cream of Australia's sprinters
including Josh Ross (NSW), Matt Shirvington (NSW), Patrick Johnson (AIS),
Adam Miller (AIS), Daniel Batman (AIS) and Aaron Rouge-Serret (VIC). A
spot on the men's relay team for the Olympics is a much sought after
position, and the fast men will make the most of the lightning track in the
predicted warm conditions".

This happens this coming weekend in Canberra where Matt ran (and won)
a 60 (6.79) and 100 (10.50) last weekend. Those times are NOT flash but
it was cold and raining and a gusty uneven wind for his first hit-out.
Good to see him out there though. John Woods may be there so I'll keep
you posted

Nothing to get excited about I'm afraid. I hope that this reflects that these
athletes haven't peaked yet... Sally's 12.72 hurdles was proably the
highlight
