There is a website called ColdHardFootballFacts.com. On July 13, 2009, it ran an article titled, "Don't Drink the AFL Kool-Aid." The theme was that the NFL, not the AFL, had the most exciting players of the 1960's. In recent years, AFL partisans have claimed the new league played more wide-open football and the NFL was "boring.".

The article listed the NFL players such as Jim Brown, Johnny Unitas, and others who were better than anyone in the AFL. One of the players profiled was Green Bay fullback, Jim Taylor. Of Taylor, the piece says in part:

"Taylor set the white-guy rushing record-a mark that still stands-with 1474 yards on the ground in 1962, while scoring a then-record 19 rushing TD's."

"Offenses in the NFL possessed so much rushing talent in the 1960's that even white guys ran recklessly through defenses."

They point out that no AFL runner ever matched Taylor's 1962 rushing or TD total. They conclude with:

"If you wanted to watch a league in which even white guys ran recklessly over, through and around defenses and scored TD's at record rates, you wanted to watch the boring NFL."
