There is almost no other award in sports that is as political as the "Gold Glove", It is essentially meaningless and is often given purely on reputation outside of performance. Nowadays it is a chance for the media to reward their favorites.

I have no idea how Kenny Rodgers won? He must really have a great reputation as a fielder.

The only white guy to win was Varitek and if there was a non-white catcher that would have had a good year he would have won it. Pudge Rodriguez won it 10 years in a row.

Hunter, Suzuki, and Wells are all repeats from last year, it is Suzuki, and Wells, and Chavez' fifth award in a row. Rodgers is a repeat too. I think the voters just xerox their ballots and mail them in every year.

Yes Tori Hunter was singularly underserving. He played only 93 games in the outfield practically a half season yet still was the best CF with his 218 putouts.
