Generously listed at 5' 10", Mark Recchi has been a consistent goal scorer his entire career and notched his 500th last night against Dallas on the road. The Stars crowd showed a lot of class and gave visiting player Recchi a standing ovation.
About to turn 39 years old, Recchi is still going strong. He's the only current member of the Penguins to have participated in the playoffs with them, and that was back in 1991, the year they won their first Stanley Cup.
Like so many hockey players, Recchi is a warrior. In a meaningless preseason game in September he suffered a fractured cheekbone yet kept playing until blurred vision and swelling made it impossible to continue.How many NFL or NBA players would do the same? Great attitude, great player.
