Since 2005, Cal has started 7, 7, 11, 6, 8, 9, 6, 5, 8, 8, 7, 10, 11, 9, 12, 12 and 6 white players. 9 this year.

I will come back and update this as the offseason progresses, but this projection is based off Cal's spring depth chart and later practice updates. For example, DE Brett Johnson was talked as a potential first round pick last year before losing yet another season to injury. Since he was rehabbing he was not listed on the spring depth chart.
Interestingly, TE Andy Alfieri (6'3" 245, brother of Stanford's Andy) has been moved to running back. He is listed as third string at the RB spot on the spring depth chart, but will also be used at full back where he will be the likely starter. Cal lost a lot of talent to the transfer portal, and it's had a pretty dark recruiting and transfer class so I don't expect them back at double digits soon. QB Ben Finley did transfer in from NC State so hopefully he can start. TE JT Byrne from Oregon State is one of two transfer TEs. LB Jackson Sirmon is one of the best LBs in college football. A couple of WRs who could see the field in Mason Mangum, Grant Daley, Trond Grizzel, and Tommy Christakos.

Offense -
QB - Ben Finley
WR - Trond Grizzel
FB - Andy Alfieri
TE - JT Byrne
LT - Brayden Rohme
LG - Matthew Wykoff
C - Matthew Cindric or Brian Drisoll

Defense -
DE - Brett Johnson
LB - Jackson Sirmon

Key back ups include QB Ben Finley, WRs Mason Mangum, Grant Daley, Trond Grizzel, and Tommy Christakos, TEs Asher Alberding and Jack Endries, OL Jackson Brown, Dylan Jemtegaard, Colin Hamilton, LBs Blake Antzoulatos and Nate Rutchena.

Very good news as NC State transfer QB Ben Finley surprisingly wins starting job as does walk in WR Trond Grizzell who apparently was a practice standout.
